If Matusiwa picks up an injury/suspension.. 21:51 - Aug 29 with 1407 viewsBlacknGoldnBlue

who else have we got that will break up the play and keep it moving..I don't think that's the strength of Cajuste or Nunez..
I think Taylor is behind the standard we want and could see him being moved on and, if Humphreys stays, that disruptor role isn't exactly his game.
Could, as some have suggested, be a positive that Johnson evolves into or could there still be business to be done before Monday 7pm?

Poll: Following Saints game, when will Ipswich have their next permanent signing?

I've been saying this for some time. Despite the very welcome addition of Nunez, we're still a bit short in central midfield, and if injuries and suspensions start kicking in in December, we'll get overrun in games if we're not careful. Taylor isn't up to it for me, not even as fourth choice.

Remember at the end of 2022 we went through a sticky patch that threatened to derail our automatic promotion campaign? That was due to running on empty in central midfield. For several games we were relying on Humphreys (who wasn't ready) and praying Morsy didn't get another booking. It all turned around when we got Luongo in, but let's not go through that again.

Sounded as if KM was pretty happy with what he's got now.

Suspect Cajuste/ Nunez could both play the deeper role if required of them and It wouldn't surprise me at all if Barbrook might be staying as the 5th midfielder with him being both home grown and not counting to the squad numbers.

Cant see Jack Taylor being moved on when we only have 4 senior midfielders. Equally, think Humphreys is now 4th choice on the left and he counts on the squad so not sure there is much value in keeping him around.

I'd be amazed if Johnson played there. Has only played CM 7 times in 140+ appearances.

Might be one to watch with the last loan slot. U21 cover for LB or DM would make sense.

History would suggest that Nunez will pick up knock or two, Cajuste the same.
Matusiwa will likely serve a suspension or two, 2 bookings in first 3 games.

We are still a bit light in quality in depth in CM. Imo.
I'm sure, given how we've attacked the window. That if KM felt we needed another player through the door, then we'll see one.

Who cares when Haaland 2.0 rip up the league.

Joking aside we can absolutly make it work, we won’t sign a like for like for Matisuwa, just no one at that level available to sit behind in the market tbh. Nunez would do a better role in the 6 than a Travis type on ability alone.

Haaland 2.0

Our fans make me laugh sometimes. The guy could be good but there is as much chance of him being a total dud. Rooting for the fella but it seems our fans have really got carried away just because of a few fees.

Id have much rather seen a few more proven champ experienced players in, Hopefully Akpom can do the business and we don't get overun in CM where i still think we look lightweight. I don't see a Morsy / Luongo partnership that was so critical to our promotion winning season.

Thnk we'll regrat not getting a Hamer / Hackney type signing in personally

Jesus dude, my next two words were quite literally “joking aside”, can you read?

I’m not declaring him Haaland 2.0 after some potential in the Danish league but he’s clearly an exciting prospect.

He’s been scouted by a lot of good level European clubs so there’s an element of high risk high reward with this kind of deal.

Matisuwa is a great signing to replace Morsy IMO and will keep growing into the role. Instead of Mass we have Cajuste and Nunez, I mean, it’s going to be a change of style in the way we play but that should excite you at this level surely.

Also
“I’d have much rather rather seen some experienced championship players in”

Literally signed Nunez and Furlong in the last 24 hours lol.

We're nearly there but we do need another CM in. Whether James is the answer I'm not sure but would be delighted to see him arrive.

He’s creative and progressive but if needed Nunez can play deep and do the breaking up play stuff. I’m not sure we will.

Cajuste. Re-watch his Napoli highlights. He can play deeper

Maybe he can play deeper, but we need a deep-lying defensive midfielder who can win balls, add physicality and clean up in the midfield. Not sure that's Cajuste's thing.
Matusiwa is crucial to the team and I'm a tad surprised we didn't go all out to get a like for like. However, the Nunez signing was glorious from a wind up perspective.
Feels a bit greedy, but I want James or a more defensive CM in and Taylor could be moved on. If you could have midfield options of Matusiwa, Nunez, Cajuste ... and James that is a fantastic midfield at this level.

The window isn't closed yet. I can still see one more transfer of a CM/DM into the club with Taylor leaving.

KP is coming back...

Na, I think Cajuste can play that role, just not as effectively as when he plays he usual.
