They set up very defensively until we got the goal. Noticeable that once they had to come out of their shell and chase the game we created lots of decent chances

I think we're just going to have to get used to games being a bit dull until we can get ahead, as it appears that a lot of teams are going to play a cagey game against us.

Yes. Obviously saw what Wrexham did and thought they would try the same.

In those situations we need to move the ball much quicker. That was evident when Jack Taylor came on. The number 10 issues still remains though. I know he scored but Nunez was poor outside of that. I'd quite like to see Egeli given a go there from the start.

I'm not a massive fan of xG, but have a look at the xG table. They sit 23rd, incredible overachievement really. They never laid a glove on us tonight and I thought they were one of the worst sides we have played all season.

We keep saying it but yet another reflection as to how poor the Championship is this season - they were in the playoffs at KO tonight. I think it's important we get ourselves straight back up, as it's going to be a lot stronger next year.

Hence why I said I don't like it. Akpom's shot was xG rated at 0.73, 2 yards out and it doesn't take into account he basically had the entire goal to prod the ball at. That should be a 0.9999 for any professional footballer

Still though, on a very rough basis, 23rd to 2nd top scorers is quite the achivement.

First half was pretty rubbish, second half opened up as soon as we scored, a bit more urgency though, which was nice. Could have been 4 by the end really.

Not a great night for McAteer or Cajuste.

Absolutely. I was pretty confident they would set up that way. Makes sense against us especially when they have e a few injuries to forward players.

Both teams really were timid in the first half.

The whole picture changes with the goal. We passed it so much better. Confidence and more spaces both contributed. Egeli and Philogene also so much better with the ball and weight/angle of passes. Egeli is so smooth on the ball

A lot of what Nunez tried didnt come off tonight, but he was trying to be positive and make things happen so I would stick with him in that role.

Surprised by them after the pre-match analysis. I guess they were missing some players and thought they were best trying to hit us on transition, but didn’t really know how.

We look better protected against that with Furlong and McAteer on the right, so perhaps that was part of McKenna’s thinking. Lovely to see our subs come on and impact the game - they looked like they had mistakes in them at the back and we were clinical when required.

Game was much more of a spectacle after the goal with more urgency from both sides.

I would imagine Oxford will be the same on Friday , dare not lose as a point against us could prove invaluable to them later in the season .
