It's nearly time for me to look to get a new energy contract sorted.

Wondered if people had good or bad view on E.ON next, EDF Energy or Sainsburys Energy?
They are currently showing as cheaper than my current provider (OVO). But having been with OVO a fair while now, I have zero complaints so always wary of making a switch.

Also, can you ring them up and see if they will make you an offer like other utilities?

Domestic I take it?
All suppliers are as good or bad as each other in my experience, you only really experience their customer service when something goes wrong. OVO are struggling financially at the moment and just had a wave of redundancies. If they end up going pop then the SOLR (Supplier Of Last Resort) process can be painful. FWIW I'd look at taking the cheaper option at the end of your contract, but obviously up to you.

I ended up switching from EDF to Outfox the Market a couple of months ago. They were 10% cheaper than anyone else.

Did it through the Martin Lewis website - https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheapenergyclub/

Yeah, domestic. Hadn't heard that about OVO, but makes me more interested in moving away.

Thanks.

I've had EON many years.

I've not had any real issues in that time, and they do tend to be fairly competitive.

I might add that part of the reason for going with them was that the bailed out the pension scheme that my dad (and then mum) had through Eastern Electricity.

Outfox coming up ~£20 a month cheaper (of course only estimate) but seems worth it.

Always nervous when switching to a company i've never used.

I used Outfox for years, across a number of properties.

Always the best value for money, and customer service was decent when we got in touch to check for better deals. Otherwise never had need to speak to them.

Only left them for Octopus about a year ago because they're not the best for solar feed-in, and we'd just had panels fitted.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

We've been happy with Octopus. Can't say how they compare to others.

Had an awful.experience with EON a few years ago. They basically insisted I owed them hundreds that I already paid. It was awful, there people shouting at me on the phone and letters threatening Bailiffs. Had to get a solicitor involved in the end who found someone sane in their legsl dept to talk to. They then stopped pursuing me and gave me a paltry £100 as compensation.

I had a massive issue with the Co-op energy once. I had a day and night meter (economy 7 is it called?) and they were reading the night usage as the day and vice versa. As our heaters were storage heaters, they stored overnight so a lot of energy was used overnight.

That took ages to sort out despite common sense would have known it was the wrong way round.

I'm currently with British Gas who gave me a decent fixed rate at the time.

As others have said, I usually go with the lowest, but say a main supplier is £1 more a month, I might just suck that up and go with them.
