| Ref 17:19 - Mar 7 with 1360 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Let's not go too far here. I understand the frustration when a ref has been very poor but they are human and make mistakes. They have poor games just as players do. It has cost us and is annoying but let's be careful not to go too far. There has been some horrendous treatment of officials after some matche. | |

| Ref on 17:23 - Mar 7 with 1270 views | cooperd5 | No thanks. He bottled 2 nailed-on and 1 semi penalty. Was a woeful performance and he seemed biased against us. | | | |
| Ref on 17:28 - Mar 7 with 1191 views | Plums | Well said. I listened on TalkSport. Perry Groves' view was he had refereed the game well up to the last minute of injury time when we should have had a penalty. He also said the reason we drew the game wasn't the ref but the fact we only played at full tilt for 45 minutes. Yelling at the ref because you've dropped two points is never going to change his mind on a decision. Ever. | |

| Ref on 17:29 - Mar 7 with 1119 views | Sarge | Humans make some mistakes, they don’t make them continuously. They also learn from them, but you can guarantee he’ll have a similarly crap game next time. He didn’t look the type to take any accountability for his performance. | | | |
| Ref on 17:33 - Mar 7 with 1032 views | pointofblue | He could be a lovely guy but he's utterly incompetent (today wasn't a one off) at being a referee. He needs to be removed from the list, for his sake as well as the clubs. | |

| Ref on 17:33 - Mar 7 with 1027 views | MrPotatoHead | Complaining about referees is a right of all football fans. It’s almost disappointing when we can’t in the pub after a game. | | | |
| Ref on 17:42 - Mar 7 with 899 views | jas0999 | Yep ref was incompetent and awful. But equally, we didn’t start playing until around the sixty minute mark. That’s also a pretty big reason as to why we didn’t win. First half was so so slow and lethargic. | | | |

I cannot think of any team in any league that plays at 'full tilt' for 90 minutes. Overall we played very well, obviously yelling at the ref will not make a difference, but he got the big decisions wrong today and the pen at the end was not a difficult decision to make. If our own players have a bad game plenty like to shout about it. We have every right to vent our anger at the ref today. [Post edited 7 Mar 18:10]

| Ref on 18:11 - Mar 7 with 724 views | management | We have had this ref twice at home this season and he has been beyond abject on both occasions. Vs Preston his match rating was 1.9 & today 2.3, whereby normally refs get between 4-6. Appreciate this rating is on our forum but these marks reflect his inability to manage situations. On football inside they have already commented on the soft free kick that led to leicester's goal, they felt Davis should have a penalty first half and Mehmeti warranted a yellow for seeking to gain advantage, strangely they don't mention the kipre incident. Controversial incidents surround refs who can't manage the games and Mr Busby fits into that category. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Ref on 18:13 - Mar 7 with 696 views | Cheltenham_Blue | Same ref 2 recent games. Awful performance vs Preston and denied us two stone wall pens in the final minutes. Awful performance today, never a foul in a month of Sundays that led to their goal, nailed on penalty turned down. Think you'll find the 'horrendous' treatment was the same ref, twice. | |

| Ref on 18:21 - Mar 7 with 655 views | Swansea_Blue | I think it should be called out. In most cases I’d agree with you, but Busby always has poor games. It’s not just a case of the occasional poor ones. He seems to lack judgement so ends up making random decisions and also lacks authority and the game ends up being about him. It happens every time and was predictable (as predicted by a few of us on here this week ☺️) | |

Is that true though? I know plenty of people who make the same mistakes repeatedly and can think of plenty of areas where I do so myself. I am not excusing the ref's performance which sounds like it was poor, just cautioning against too much vitriol. Never does any good.

No problem with it being called out either. Just think a few comments are bordering on going too far. It's the same when a player has a poor game. No problem with people giving their views but too frequently can go too far. Fortunately with Town it has never gone to the extremes that it has done with a few other cases in bigger matches but we have seen from the perspective of players that it has gone too far at times.

| Ref on 18:44 - Mar 7 with 482 views | football | Heck no! He made errors against Preston and had to be escorted off and again today claiming he dnd't see it. He is paid a lot of money to make correct decisions and those decisions could cost us millions if we miss out on automatic. | | | |

Are you saying we should stop after the flaying and not boil his remains in vinegar too?

I agree upto a point I dont want to blame the ref for them scoring from a nothing free kick he gave them. We should have defended better. And we shouldn't need a stonewall penalty either to win the game, we had enough chances to score from open play and Perry Groves isnt wrong about the full tilt for 45mins part.which is not a sentence I thought id ever say. However this is the 2nd game weve had the pleasure of this particular ref this season at home, people even raised it before the game as a likely issue with what to expect, and i just dont think he is very good at his job. He gives too many free kicks for nothing, and isnt even that consistent with awarding them, its like fine blow up everytime someone falls over but do it every time and be consistent. He'd give a free kick to Leicester for someone falling over, yet we had a one where i forget who it was but the Leicester player dived in and tackled from behind took our player clean out and he just waved play on, I thought tackles from behind like that were automatic cards and often red in colour. In the first half Leif got tackled in a way anywhere else on the pitch thats a free kick, even with this refs standards, but he was just in the penalty box, so its a penalty, so thats another penalty he didnt give. 1 minute of injury time in the first half ? Really? They spent 2mins with goal celebrating and a team tactics meeting. 5mins 2nd half was the bare minimum We shouldn't absolutely make it personal, or abuse him as a person, thats clearly wrong. But we shouldnt be afraid of calling out the numerous mistakes he has made in this game and ask for match referees to be held to a better standard. If as he says he didnt see the tackle. And his 2 linesmen (who were arguably just as mistake prone) cant help him. Then we do need to be able to freely question whether these officials are upto the job they are being given.
