What a pass to Clarke.

You can see why we've bought him, his distribution is incredible.

That can't be right, I thought we'd already established that he was rubbish?

Just hope Scherpen doesnt get the Muric treatment early on - always that danger when his back up gets a bit of a cult following. Hopefully he will be given time

He looks brilliant. The only problem is we have hardly seen him doing any goalkeeping. The one save was a little bit dodgy but no drama.

Scherpin got steadier as it went on.

Think could be worth keeping both until at least Jan and seeing how it settles down

It’s got to be worth a thought. His distribution is not just good, it’s genuinely outrageous! I’ve already seen him start off counter attacks and split open defences in one kick of a ball. Could be such a tool for us this season.

Obviously not seen anywhere near enough of Scherpen to know his strengths and weaknesses yet though.

If we struggle to sign another centre mid I’d be half tempted to stick him in the middle of the park. Distribution unreal.

I really like his confidence on the ball. I think he's going to be our no 1!

I think that it's way too early to call who will be our number 1. Distribution is one thing, but shot-stopping, command of the box, ability to save penalties, communication with the back line, ability to recover from mistakes, and confidence, will all enter into it and be equally important. Let's see how next week's game goes, and trust GON to make the right choices.

Presumably we're going with two from three of Walton, Sherpen and van Oevelen, with an U21 keeper or an old hand as third keeper, and Palmer moving on.

I can't see which two of those first three it is yet, and in which order. Which is good, I suppose.

Could be the best passer of a ball we've had here since your namesake! A goalkeeper? Just crazy :)

Apparently, Scherpen also has a really high success passing rate long range and short range passing

On extremely limited evidence, I'd say we've got three keepers of broadly similar overall capability, albeit different skillsets.

Walton we know really well, and I wouldn't have been unhappy with him as #1 this season, so long as the #2 was of similar capability. Walton has improved significantly since last PL season. He's pretty reliable, makes him a safe choice for one of the two* places.

Sherpen looks like he could be absolutely dominant once he finds his feet and full confidence and feels in command of his defence, and is probably the safest bet for #1.

van Oevelen looks to have great potential too, and obviously seems to have fantastic distribution.

Conventional thinking - choose two from three now and loan the other (potentially sell if its Walton, but I don't think we take that chance). Would we even loan Sherpen as the big buy? No, you'd keep him plus one of the others.

But I think your idea is the right idea, even if it is not the most efficient in terms of squad and development, because there's a genuine case for any two of those three to be the #1 and #2. So keep all three until January, see how they develop in competition, and we probably end up with a really competitive pair of senior keepers. But then this costs us a squad place for outfield players?

*assuming we don't carry three senior keepers in our squad for the whole season

Sitting in the stand watching that distribution, I lost the number of time I just said 'Wow'.

We may have a 'keeper dilemma, but it will be a nice one to have.
