Wolfy was right, Don Goodman is an absolute helmet second on the knob head chart 12:28 - Aug 13 with 2273 viewsLion

only to Chris Sutton. Why TF all these pundits don't mention Coventry to struggle is an absolute mystery to me. ( re his comments in the Ipswich Star i worry for Ipswich. ) Frank Lampard is neither Sean Dyche or Pep Guardiola. We comfortably beat Coventry three times in the last 2 seasons. Do they have any knowledge of the championship last year or is it just that Coventry won the league?! Or is is just a Frank Lampard love in? I have nothing against Coventry but I think they are in for a rude awakening, as we were in 24/25, with the levels and physicality that they are going to be facing. I'm pretty sure that Hull and Cov are going down, Hull fans are realists i think to be fair and Coventry fans seem quite deluded and pretty sure that we and Hull are going down but, I just don't understand the reasoning on why the media seem sure Coventry will be ok....

Has a pundit ever predicted something that was not an obvious most likely favourite, something really left field, a dark horse gamble and it came true ?

Talking of Coventry this is amusing. What can you tell me about Coventry. "Everything"

I think Lampard is a decent manager and a decent guy and he will get Coventry giving it a good go, but like us they will find it difficult.

Most fans are deluded. We think Hull and Cov will go down. Cov think us and Hull will go down. Hull prob think us and Cov will go down, along with themselves.

Pundits just want a headline and Lampard is a bigger headline than O'Neil.

All three will find it tough going. Whether one, two or three will survive, time will tell.

Why is everyone so worried about what the pundits think ?? The results does not rely on what they think!

Well, the last time we were in the PL, it was the most miserable of seasons. I don't agree with Don Goodman though, as on paper at least, our new signings look much more like PL players than we had 2 years ago.

The Coventry love-in is all to do with the fact they've been renamed "Frank Lampard's Coventry". They had a great season last year, but we, playing at our best, exposed them twice. In my opinion, they & Hull will both be relegated. We have the best chance of surviving from the 3 promoted teams.

You've got to remember pundits arent paid to just give their expert opinions anymore, theyre paid to drive clicks or interest to whatever publication is paying them. So they'll always fall on the side of creating a conversation I believe its called. Ie a talking point.

If Don Goodman went yeah I think Ipswich could do ok this season, do you think anyone would notice?, the Star would bother printing it?

The 2nd thing you have to remember is Frank's part of that media punditry setup knows them well probably has their numbers on his phone and vice versa, its harder to criticise friends or people you feel are friends even if its your job, because inevitably you will meet them face to face and they'll call you out on it.

Don Goodman has no relationship with Town or Hull or any of the team at those clubs, and doesn't know the people involved at the clubs, so is more able to offer his brand of punditry on them.

Sutton does it just to annoy Town fans

Just ignore both we dont care what they think, just believe instead we will prove them wrong again.

I've just returned my Thesaurus to my book store, because I looked under "Clueless Tvvat" and there was no sign at all of "D Goodman" in the list of synonyms.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Of course it’s a Lampard love in. The media adore him so Lampard’s Coventry are certain to do well. Add in they won the division by a mile while the rest were rubbish and you can see why a couple of witless planks like Goodman and Sutton make the noises they do.

Fine. Say what they like. Who cares.

The reality is that while I didn’t watch Coventry too often it was clear what they were about. They were physical with enough talent and firepower to do well in that division. The problem they will have is that the Premier League is so far ahead in what they do compared to Coventry.

When we played them, especially away, we took them apart. We did it by playing very much the way Premier League clubs do albeit at a lower standard. It was far too much for them to handle and the 5-0 aggregate did not flatter us. If we’d played them 10 times, we’d have bettered them most of time in my view.

I think they’ll struggle as will Hull and ourselves. Of the three, we are the best placed, not least because of the slapping we got two seasons ago. It will be interesting.

The pundits? Waste of space.

Exactly - Coventry will struggle - anyone that watched any Champ football last year knows that….Frank is no better than many others that have failed before him…

With signings showing that level of inspiration and passion, it's clear to see how they're the favourites to stay up!

Yes it's not going to be easy for any of us promoted sides but we are doing the most work and squad improvement to give ourselves the best chance. Haji Wright injured and out for Three months already, definitely not going to be easy.

Who cares? If he said he thought we would stay up it would be equally pointless.

No pundit can really have in depth knowledge of the entire league so they play the percentages.

It's page filling garbage.
