That ex EDL chap Tommy Robinson, now I tread carefully here....... 20:38 - Jun 25 with 12921 viewsJoey_Joe_Joe_Junior

Whilst I think he is fanning the flames of hatred and a nutcast, at some levels I have to respect his efforts for the cause, whatever that cause maybe. He does street level politics and does want to engage with people. I do believe in communities like Luton situations like this have been waiting to happen for years. He actually will always turn up when invited for universities to talk and at least try and have a debate. There is no doubt he is extremely disrespectful to the Muslim faith and going on and on about the Koran being an evil book etc etc is pure bigotry. He also seems to sit on the fence of whether its just a handful of extremists or an entire faith that is the problem. He may well have a hidden agenda due to his upbringing. The truth is though, the extremism that has going on in mainstream mosques etc did need exposing and the fact that in society people seemed to turn a bit of a blind eye to it or ignore it was going on really gave him a platform in the first place. If we hadn't sleep walked into this for years in a very PC Britain, there would be no Tommy Robinson. Like Piers Morgan even acknowledged, I also I don't disagree with everything he says.

It's not end of though is it? That's the point. Why does he continue to appear on your TV on a weekly basis because we can't get rid of the problems and issues surrounding these debates. Lot's of people listen and sympathize with him for whatever reason, so as a society you can't just ignore the likes of him and have to ask why and what should be done.

He's a hate preacher - the very same thing he says he's against.

He should wind his neck in as inspiring more nutters to kill and maim is the last thing we need.

Pronouns: He/Him

His main problem is the mask always slips.

Speaks sense about Islamic terrorists, then says he doesn't hate all Muslims etc, but then he slips into going on about the terrorists as 'Muslims' and changes terms so often he ends up tying himself in knots and you can then tell it's about all Muslim's he thinks like this.

Also, he supposedly left behind EDL years ago, but still doesn't separate himself from what was in reality a mob of racists who would go round cities like footie hooligans.

Easy to see why so many fall for it, like all leaders he's an engaging speaker

He often is but if we didn't have Muslim hate preachers in the first place he would just be a footy lad in Luton. He clearly fills strongly about it and you can't disregard all his reasoning for why, in my opinion.

Yep, he just happens to look like "us" and "talk sense".

He's a fraud, as well as convicted of it. A morally bereft Katie Hopkins for the lads. The shine is wearing off too. You can see it on his youtube rants and TV exposure, underneath it the bigotry is clear.

Don't disagree with any of that. He often speaks quite well in my opinion for someone who by his own admission is a working class uneducated lad but then slips into his rhetoric. I was excited to see him sharing platforms with Muslims when he left the EDL. I don't really know what he associates himself with these days or who he speaks for? I thought he was on anti extremist think tank? But now seems to be back sounding like an EDL ringleader?

He is putting himself at risk for his beliefs and what he stands for, at some level I do respect him for it but his views are too extreme.

He did a really good interview with Matt Forde on political party podcast a few years back - I'd say I agreed with more than I disagreed with. But he ties himself in knots at times.

When he went to that Anti Brexit march to interview some of the protesters it was genuinely funny.

As with the pseudonyms it was another insincere to reinvent himself and make it about him. When it became more talk about the EDL as an entity, rather than as his backing group of cheerleaders his ego clearly couldn't take it.

It's all about the Tommy Robinson show, I'm sure he'd mould his beliefs any which way the camera was pointing.

Nick Griffin used to do that as well. Present a few things that were on the far of it, reasonable, and then, every so often the mask slips. and the nasty, violent bigot emerges to bleat that he's 'just saying what everyone's thinking'.
Andy Choudhry is much the same. Starts off from a vaguely sensible point then rapidly descends into hateful ranting.

He was with Quillam and stuff he did with Maajid Nawaaz was interesting - but he seems now to br hsppy to be associated with the EDL again; or at least doesn't pull people up on it.

Clearly an intelligent bloke, but becoming quite dangerous at the moment

Thing is, you try and reason with him and his supporters, and you get accused of being a 'terrorist sympathiser', 'unpatriotic', 'liberal snowflake' etc. He's a weaponised attention-seeker - there's no intent for a reasoned sensible debate with him, if you're not in favour of viewing all Muslims as an enemy then you're 'part of the problem'.

He acts as if no-one else is concerned with terrorism, just because they don't spout off bigoted hatred on social media all day long. His first instinct after the Finsbury park attack was to try and justify the deaths because he guessed that it was a place where hatred was preached (it wasn't, he got that wrong again).

He's a dangerous c^nt and if he was genuinely in favour of 'making the world a better place', he wouldn't tolerate some of the frankly disgusting behaviour of his followers (which range from reveling in burning a Quran to constantly ranting at Sadiq Khan because he's Muslim - "how did it get to a point where one of you is in charge").

He's a bully and a coward - no intention to listen to anyone else but expects everyone else to treat what he says as gospel.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Yes, your last point is key. He is a radicalisation threat to others. Very dangerous man.

If you're talking about this guy then you're wrong. He is a disgusting human that encouraged many young Muslims to commit acts of terror.

Say what you want about Robinson and although so of his actions are dangerous he is a street protester, not a terrorist recruiter.

Fair points. His followers are basically lashed up patriots with nothing better to do. I standby the fact that he can talk sense at times but as my first post stated he is fanning the flames and that is dangerous.

A repeatedly violent man with criminal tendencies is how you might describe his behaviour.

Interesting that he is claiming the video is "edited" and he acted in self defence.
