Please don’t let us down Bart 12:56 - Jul 8 with 1659 viewsDanFord

Despite being happy here, the guy deserves to play at the highest level here or abroad. Given how settled he is and his family are, given what a stable club we are and how he speaks about wanting to live here after he’s retired, I’d lose all respect for him if it ends up being purely money motivated with a sideways or backwards move. I appreciate we should sell if he won’t sign but for £3m we may as well keep him and get close to that in January. Hopefully he gets the big move and big wage he deserves if we can’t keep hold of him by ensuring he’s our highest earner. But Birmingham would be money only and yes it’s important to a 31 year old, not so much a keeper, but he’s spent the last few years giving us all the impression he’s the one player whose more concerned with being happy than earning a few extra quid.

He doesn't need your, mine or our respect.

He will do what is right for him and his family.

Good luck to him.

The entire point of my post is he’s spent years suggesting bring here is what’s best rather than a few extra quid. Nobody would begrudge him earning more. But I’d be disappointed if that’s all he left for when he’s spent a long time making out being happy here was more important.

I would be disappointed if he left, especially for such a low fee to another Championship club.

However, who knows his thinking and whether he would truly be interested (he may well not be).

If he did go, Amos would be an adequate replacement in my opinion (from the little I have seen of him some time ago now). How the money would be spent would then determine whether the club did better out of it or not.

One reason it might possibly not add up is that it might be complete BS.

Can't see him going there.

Truly impaired.

He could well walk away next year for nothing.
If he won’t sign the contract then the club have to cash in on him.
He’s not the be all and end all of the club. It’s just a job for him.

Exactly this, we've had a lot from Bart and vice versa, but he owes us nothing in those terms. It's down to Evans to get the best deal possible same as any other player.

We can all wish he'd spend more, or use hindsight and say he screwed up not selling McG or replacing Murphy, but ultimately none of it is down to the players.

See this is where football supporters who think in their heart , and football players are different . I’m not sure what you do for a living but ,1 thing I will gaurentee is that whatever you do , if I rival company came in and offered to double or treble your wages you would go , why should footballers be any different
