Possibility of rain tomorrow too though probably not enough to save us batting the majority of the day. A huge turnaround in attitude and application is required from several of our batsmen. If we can be something for 0 wickets at the close, I'll be happy as I see a declaration in the next 30-45 mins.
I’m not sure we have the batting durability to last on a final day test wicket. The Aussies test to win. Lyon is going to pick up a hatful of English wickets in that final innings.
With better pre-match decisions we would have won this Test. We've had them on the ropes twice, at 112-8 and then when we had the platform to get a 100+ first innings lead but because we took a risk on Anderson and were left a bowler light we are now likely to lose.
And it will be a big defeat because we need to win the series to get the urn back.
Still, if Archer comes in for the next match we might have a chance of getting Steve Smith out

Smith has been known to struggle against left arm spinners, get Jack Leach in for Ali.

I'd have had Sam Curran in instead of Anderson, which would have given the latter more time to recover. By risking him we now have the possibility he might miss the entire series.

True, but if Anderson says he’s fit, you play him. He’s an experienced campaigner and our best bowler, he knows his body better than anyone. I would’ve had Curran in from the start, I suggested for Ali but looking at the pitch it’s not doing much for the seamers now.

I always think in those sessions where not much is happening, having the option of a left arm seamer is helpful.
Edgbaston is well known as a spinners' wicket. Given that, why did we not select the best English spinner, Jack Leach? This is not being wise after the event.

Not to mention our highest averageing opening bat.

Thought I heard one pundit on TMS say Archer was fielding in the session either post-lunch or post-tea? Was he acting as 12th man, and if so, is there something in the rules to say they can't bowl or bat?

'Is there something in the rules to say they can't bowl or bat?'
Exactly that. There as a substitute fielder only.
Best substitute fielder ever? This guy.

Ah, thanks.
Nice clip too, thanks - serve the Aussies right - looked to me as tho complacent & not running flat out. Didn't catch the 12th man's name tho - Pratt?! - surely not!
