Birthday 11:30 - Apr 12 with 780 viewsmidastouch

Sorry if this has been posted before. But who has had a birthday during these strange times? Not nearly so easy to celebrate at a time like this is it? It's my dad's birthday today and obviously I can't even go and visit him. Strange times indeed. Simply posted cards through his door. My dad isn't so bothered at his ripe age (he's 75 years young today!) but it's tough on the younger ones who don't fully understand the horrors we are up against right now and would normally be able to enjoy a party with their friends.

I was 65 on 3 April.

We had to cancel a week away in the Peak District.

I've coped.

Yes, but I am a miserable git and not one for organised fun anyway - is it was a bit of a relief. It also meant that there was much more cake to eat because there were fewer people to share it with. I did have my team at work sing Happy Birthday on a Skype call which was god awful.

Many happy returns to your dad.
Double celebrations next year.

I think the way forward is to have an official birthday later this year (or whenever this is all over), much like the Dear Old Queen.

It was my dad's 80th a couple of weeks ago and we were supposed to be having a meal out, including his brother coming down from the north as a surprise, but sadly have had to delay that until we can hopefully do it sometime when we’re out the other side.
It’s my son’s 14th birthday in 2 weeks, and I won’t be able to go and see him. 🙁

My birthday is slap bang in the middle of the Summer holidays when schoolmates were generally away. So don't think I ever really had a birthday party on or near my birthday.

People will get over it.

Mine tomorrow but not one to celebrate much so no problem. Was the wife's two days ago and I couldn't get her anything as im deemed to be high risk.

Bought theatre tickets in advance at xmas but the show has been cancelled.

So being the romantic I am, I submitted her accounts for her online and paid the tax and NI due. Bet HMRC we're surprised to have someone self employed actually trying to pay tax during this period.

Feel sorry for my daughter as its her 18th next month and I was taking her and her boyfriend to eurodisney. That looks like being cancelled also.

Never mind as its no hardship compared to whats happening to some people.

My son was 10 on Thursday. We arranged for family and friends to do a surprise drive-by for him. And thanks to a fortuitous turn of events, we had seven cop cars join in the drive by too which was pretty neat.

Was meant to be having a weekend away in Scotland with Mrs PB parents as it was her Dads and my birthday on the same weekend. Really looking forward to it. I am fortunate I get on well with my In laws so we thought it would be a good weekend celebration. Due to go to Italy together on 23 June. That looks a goner as well. I do feel for the older people who clearly love spending time with their families and cant.
