Any reason not to use motorcyle spray chain lube on a push bike?

I use something thin like wd40 or similar.
Some motorcycle stuff is proper greasy and flings everywhere, bike, clothes etc.

Just stick some KY Jelly on it.

Job done.

My main reason not to do that would be the fact that I always have appropriate cycle chain oil. Hope that helps.

No, I have done that.

I am sure it is only coincidence that I have had a couple of chain breaks over the years.

Yep wd-40, or water displacement 40th formula, to give it its proper name, is not a chain lubricant.

Arguably any chain lubricant,as long as its lubricant and not just wd40 by another name will work, alot of the time they add 'cycle' or 'motorcycle' specific to charge people more.

FWIW I stick with Muc-off dry, apply spin pedals through some revolutions wipe off any excess

I clean with WD40, give it a wipe down and then use a bike lube.

But I don't do anything to the bike

I think you will find that motor cycle chains turn at a higher rate and higheer temp than push bikes.... so you'll encourage filth and grit to build up and destroy your chain a tad faster than other stuff.

Over-lubing the moving parts on a push bike can do a lot more harm than good - especially in the current dry and dusty conditions.

Dry lube's worth getting for the summer. You only need a small bottle so doesn't cost the earth, but it doesn't attract dust and dirt so keeps the chain cleaner for longer.

I've got a bottle of this and it's lasted for years (not been using the bikes much though).
