An entertainer who was strongly anti-apartheid long before it was fashionable, George Formby. Refused to play to segregated audiences in South Africa.
There was a radio programme a while back with Jools Holland name dropping for all that he was worth, he recalled being round at George Harrison's house at the same time as Bob Dylan. Harrison was a great fan of the ukelele and had a video of George Formby playing, Dylan came into the room and watched it for a bit before remarking 'strange guy'.
