Unpopular opinion 16:55 - Jun 9 with 2443 views | Parky | But I think now is the time to take the opportunity to have a serious re-shuffle and start something new. Firstly getting rid of Lambert is an absolute must, I have no idea who I’d like in, but somebody who can get the most out of players is a must. Here’s the unpopular part: I would also be offloading Chambers. I owe him a lot of respect for his loyalty and service at this club, but for me it’s time to move on. The bloke is a serial loser, never won anything in his career, failure after failure at this club; he still remains unchanged. Now, I know if we did get rid of Chambers we’d be losing our only leader, but I’d be doing everything to make Downes our club captain and try everything to keep him. Failing that, I still think we look elsewhere. I think the re-shuffle should also come to our recruitment and the way we set up, especially in these weird economic times. I wouldn’t be opposed to playing a side with the likes of Dozzell, Dobra, El Mizouni, KVY. May not be the best ‘on paper’ but look where that got us this season. I know some will say “you don’t have to go” - but I’m not afraid to admit, I haven’t missed the football anywhere near as much as I thought I would do in this period. We go again whenever we’re allowed, Uppa towen
Unpopular opinion on 17:01 - Jun 9 with 2400 views | itfcjoe | Chambers the serial loser has had 5 or 6 top half championship finishes, other than our squad who has done anything like that? He’s coming to the end of his career, but I’d much rather be getting Wilson or Nsiala our the door ahead of him. He’s got another year and isn’t going anywhere so I wouldn’t get your hopes up

He also strikes me as the sort of guy we'd want to keep around for coaching or ambassadorial stuff. He clearly genuinely feels the club and wants to motivate and gee people up, there must be some kind of role like that for him.

Personally, IF there is any prospect of football proceeding next season I'd be far more confident with Chambo & Skuse as the managerial team than with Lambo and his useless cabal and yes men.

Let's be fair here, there's a reasonable argument to suggest that both Keane and Jewell would be an improvement on 'Lamebo'.

I don’t see it with Lambert here. Just amazes me the lazy criticism of Chambers (and invariably Skuse) no one in the squad can get near them for achievements, as meagre as they are compared to our better days. What have we got in the squad honours wise? A couple of L2 promotions from Jackson, Donacien and Norwood?

He'd probably be cheaper and more competent though.

Crikey I wouldn't go that far.... give Lambo the teams either of those two clueless gravy train riders 'enjoyed' and he might have done just as badly.

For that reason alone , Chambers and Skuse need to stay . This does NOT mean however that should automatically play. Those days are drawing to a close whether the players like it or not.

Whilst I understand your point, I think it proves how low our club has become by comparing finishing in the top 5 or 6 in the championship. FWIW, Chambers has lost in every play off he’s been in too. It wasn’t meant to come across as he’s a bad player, but the way I see it is that he has a mentality where he knows we / he can lose and everything will be ok.

I most certainly wouldn’t be opposed to having him around the club. There’s no doubting he’s put his everything into this club, however I think in regards to on the field, I think we need a change of leadership.

Unfair IMO to call it ‘lazy criticism’ purely because you disagree. Comparing what ‘honours’ the worst squad in our clubs history have is just pointless. Chambers was expected to be one of the best defenders in the division this season and being quite frank he was bang average. My personal opinion is that because we’ve been sh!t for many years people cling onto Chambers’ leadership and act like it’s impossible to replace him. Been a brilliant servant and what he’s done for the club, but to call it lazy criticism by wanting a change in captain when our squad has just finished the lowest in 50+ years and has gone backwards is completely unfair.

It's 'lazy' because people associte it with Mick McCarthy. And you know, us having a competent football team.

You might not read much on here, so post re lazy criticism isn't aimed purely at you - but there is so often calls for Chambers and Skuse to go, as though they are the problem and what is holding us back - when both have started week in-week out under 3-4 managers. Skuse was being phased out of the team in january-February, and I'm sure most ITFC fans would like to see the same happen to Chambers because it means someone is better than him; that just hasn't happened and he plays every week because there is no one better. Bearing in mind our budget last year saw us bring in James Wilson after a long trial, we are going to be incredibly lucky to get someone better than him when shopping in the bargain basement, and it isn't a position we are blessed with in the youth academy either. The main thing stopping it, is the fact he is under contract anyway, but if we were to get rid of him we'd invariably end up worse next season. The best we can hope for is he helps us to get up and can be replaced when we have some money to spend in the Championship.

If he managed us he would certainly know what pitfalls to avoid in terms of man-management after Hurst, the need to stick to a coherent pattern of play (see his comments about the side losing its shape at Lincoln). He’s also alluded to the lack of budget too. Maybe he’d do a Lampard and pass on in search of a job where he wasn’t being set up to fail.
Unpopular opinion on 20:57 - Jun 9 with 1807 views | Sharkey | I'd have thought that everybody who is out of contract will leave, everybody who is not out of contract will thank their lucky stars stay, and better players out of contract at better teams will join. (At all league clubs.)
