Why are Sunderland favourites to win the league this year? 17:43 - Aug 17 with 1764 views | AlexGreen | I haven't followed their transfer dealings too closely since the season ended but other than courting all the players we've been linked with, have they signed anyone / received a cash injection or something? They haven't looked like winning much the last few years so confused why they'd be favourites other than because of their name

Similar to us they have a decent squad of players and Parkinson was starting to get a tune out of them before CV kicked in and the season was ended. [Post edited 17 Aug 2020 18:00]

Why are Sunderland favourites to win the league this year? on 17:55 - Aug 17 with 1697 views | Shawsey | They will probably sign their way out of the league. To be fair, they are far to big a club for L1. Top half Championship at worst. Football doesn't work like that though.

That and the fact he’s won the league before I expect. [Post edited 17 Aug 2020 18:30]

Odds are also set to attract roughly equal money on all outcomes. Bigger clubs have more fans and bookies probably take more money on them so they set a lower price.

They had Bailey Wright last season though so not really strengthening. Aidan O'Brien is an ok signing. Not like a sit up and take notice signing. It is very odd. Chatting to a Sunderland fan they have pulled out of loan signing of Sarkic (gk) as Donald won't sanction any fees paid. Until they are taken over they will certainly not buy their way out. They stripped out a lot of team end of year and sold/let go a lot of youngsters. We're well placed to take advantage of the value in the free transfer market post Covid but salary cap must surely have really blown that as well as not having a big u21 pool ready to boost the squad. Aiden McGeady has to go because fallen out with Parky. So they have 15 seniors to choose from right now. Team is decent but I think the salary cap is a big issue now they need 5-7 players signing still. Interesting stuff. I certainly wouldn't have them favourites. Very hard league to call.
