MASSIVE GAME - a performance a chance of a reprieve? 09:22 - Nov 28 with 1691 viewsunstableblue

Just a huge game, just really interested to see how the players react... a lack of fight, a lack of press, a lack of energy... it doesn’t bode well for how they as a team back the manager.

I haven’t gone over the fence to dance in shambert out wonderland just yet, but probably sitting on the fence. This season is so critical, and there would still be time to get someone in and work with a good but heavily injured squad.

However, I just don’t trust Evans to hire a progressive manager who get us playing a style that will get us playing more effectively.

I do think to Lamberts credit he’s trying to play a system and have identity:

“our system under Lambert is Holy feeding Wolf and Toto, them bringing it forward and passing it through the lines or hitting the cross ball, Dozzell as quarterback, Bishops breaking the lines, full backs bombing forward, width AND CRITICALLY triangles of play between midfield and attack to get play into a box with more town players in it”

And he is right in part that he’s improved us during his tenure... but just not enough. He inherited a team that couldn’t string two passes together and were outplayed week in week out.... games such as Blackpool, Sunderland we’ve been really good.

But injuries, some really poor performances from senior players, and a lack of energy, combined with a press persona that grates means that he’s lost the majority of fans despite a good league position.

Let’s see a reaction - COYB

What I'd like to see is the team moving as a unit up and down the pitch, and across it so there are always players supporting each other either with the ball to give options, or to close down the opposition down more quickly.

He had to be told by our owner to stick to a system. He hasn't got a scooby and I've got all my appendages crossed that today will be his last game for us. It simply isn't good enough.

Managers have been sacked after winning. When enough is enough there should be no reprieve just because we win a game.

Hull was a huge game to.A chance to win,go top and make a statement. We all know what happened,we completely buckled and didnt lay a glove on them.
I have zero confidence that today in another 'huge' game it will be any different.I suppose by some miracle we may scrape an undeserved draw,in spite of Lambert not because of him. I think its pretty clear Lamberts goose is cooked here, just a matter of how long it gets left in the oven now.

Whether I hope we do or not is irrelevant.

Because we will anyway.

When we’ve played well under Lambert, which has not happened enough, it’s with momentum and with numbers... the Downes flying header is the football he aspires to... but it needs energy

Where’s the energy?

Lambert can’t set up a team, or adapt to his squad.

We showed promising signs at the start of the season, but they are a distant memory.

Just look at that midfield and how they set up on Tuesday, it was an embarrassment and a total failure of coaching and management.

I don’t care that we keep the ball better, we have probably had less than 10 games in the last 50 where we have created a decent amount of chances - he simply can not coach or set up a team

You honestly think Lambert has it right and it's just the players being lacklustre? The good moments are rare and happen off the cuff. He doesn't know how to coach and set a side up, that is abundantly clear after 2 years.

You make it sound as if he’s been unlucky and hard done by! He has been a shambles of contradictions. Last season was outrageous.

Although seemingly Hurst got an extra two and a bit weeks because of winning a game at Swansea that we should have lost.

I'm astonished that he didn't tell us how 'technical' Lambert's 'system' is.
