Interesting ITFC facts 12:09 - Nov 23 with 1380 views | Cotty | A plea for help fellow TWTDers. C19 has meant that much university teaching is online at the moment. To keep things "interesting" I'm getting my students to do a quiz in one of the sessions each week. Naturally, I slip in a question on ITFC each week, but I'm starting to run low on facts which might be interesting to non-ITFC fans. Please can you suggest some more facts for me to wow my students with? This is definitely the most Dollers post I've ever posted. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, might be a bit obvious if they know you're a Town fan! For reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Scott_Sherrington

I've rephrased it like this: "Ipswich Town Football Club are the only English club to have had a winner of what award amongst their former players?" Incorrect answers include the Darwin award, "Rear of the Year" and an Oscar.

I'll probably end up looking a lemon when it turns out Bertrand Russell once turned out for Millwall.

How many players in the english football leagues have played in every game of an undefeated world cup campaign? Not sure if there are many? but I know Tommy Smith played in all the NZ World Cup 2010 games and they didn't get beaten once.

Understood-you meant since football was invented then. This is not a dig at you but it annoys me that it seems to be a belief that football started in 1992. [Post edited 30 Nov 2020 15:14]

I get your annoyance there! I just wanted to filter out the top league in case others had won it (like in '66). I like that NZ were the only team to not lose a single game in the 2010 world cup.

Actually just checked that and Butch did not play against Kuwait. Shilton, Thompson, Wilkins, Rix and Francis also played every game along with Mills and Mariner.
