This cannot last forever. His inability to turn us around actually means Evans must act in the end. It is very painful while we wait but he has been a dead man walking for so long now and there is no chance of a miraculous resurrection.

We keep defensive shape pretty well through the midfield and back 4. We compete in the basics; winning as many of those scrappy battles over the pitch as we lose. We are getting better at keeping the ball, and it’s true you can’t score without the ball (og aside!).
Most of that is meaningless without any end product and good results of course, but you did ask. We play ok for chunks of games. Put an equivalent to Murphy in this team and it’d be a different season. But without that goal threat each defensive mistake is more damaging.
