Chances of tomorrow's game being called off due to Storm Darcy? 09:27 - Feb 8 with 3126 viewsEdmundo

What a poncy name for a storm.
Anyhow, as no fans are going I'd have hoped we'd play. And win. We always win when it's snowing.

Poll: Should we go for it in the January transfer window?

We only started naming storms in 2014* as part of a dumbing down strategy. I guess it is working now we are discussing the quality of names rather than the pointlessness of it all.

* EDIT: Decision was made in 2014, first was in 2015

Speaking about storms. Apparently it’s a myth that Micheal Fish downplayed the Grest Stormmof 1987. Below is taken from the met office website.

TV weather presenter Michael Fish will long be remembered for telling viewers there would be no hurricane on the evening before the storm struck. He was unlucky, however, as he was talking about a different storm system over the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean that day. This storm, he said, would not reach the British Isles - and it didn't. It was the rapidly deepening depression from the Bay of Biscay which struck.

Most aren't even storms (as we'd traditionally consider them). I can understand it in the US, as a storm is often a proper storm. They are majorly impactful events. Ours are just a relentless stream of low pressure systems that come in from the south west bringing wind and rain. Many times here in the west it's impossible to tell the difference between a named storm and the next unnamed low pressure system.

Yes, I remember that. But a Met Office piece about it has nothing to do with "BBC bo££ox". It's a Met Office comment.

that would make sense as with them having a heated tent on the pitch the issue will not be snow falling on the covers it would be the pitch freezering after cover come off, which has a high chance of happening at 7pm than 3pm

How dare you.

I bang on about the Second World War every five minutes. I wear Union Jack boxers at all time and when I’m on holiday, I put a Union Jack on the balcony of my hotel and I only eat English food whilst in Majorca. None of that foreign muck.

Plus good ol Nige should be knighted. God bless Sir Nigel.

Was the last bit too much?
