Am I right in saying we would have won the league had three points for a win been introduced in the 70's?

Considering there have been the biggest advances in player fitness and equipment over the last half-century it's incredible how little has been done to change rules and retain the essence of the game.

They've allowed the game itself to change which is fine but I think there's a lot they could do to make the top level games less attritional and space so difficult to find. It can be a fascinating struggle when your own team is involved (or the very best players are involved) but I find the remaining 95% of elite football remarkably boring.

And yes, I know that's an age thing as well.

Missing on the original post, but I think two subs were introduced circa 86-87.

I think it was 74-75. We actually finished third but won more games than the two teams above (Derby and Liverpool).

Correct. Two substitutes per team were approved for the league (Littlewoods) Cup & FA Cup in season 86-87 and two were permitted in the Football League for the first time in 87-88 season.

Or that all of football was invented by the Premier League as nothing seems to have existed before then.

Am I right in thinking we had the first all seater stadium or was that just the Premier League?

Yes. I believe it might be the only time it would have changed the winners - at least that was the case as of a few years ago I'm sure.
