Good point made by Watson re Takeover 07:54 - Apr 6 with 3107 viewshype313

"Marcus Evans was at Spotland, just like he’d been at the DW Stadium.

Are these the sort of journeys the multi-millionaire would be making were he on the verge of selling the club? "

Hard to disagree with that, why would he bother going to Rochdale of all places if he was on the cusp if flogging the club?

A lot of people seem to discount the idea that Marcus Evans could have become a fan of Ipswich Town after nearly a decade and a half of close involvement with the club. But why is that so strange?

They may not have been the best years of our history (!), but he has been exposed to the traditions, achievements and personalities of ITFC, a lot of the same stuff that made us love them, too. It's his team in a very real and meaningful sense. However badly things may have turned out, he is the heir to the Cobbolds.

It's too easy to treat wealthy and prominent people as mere caricatures. However, they operate on human psychology, the same as the rest of us.

For that matter, if the takeover is as rumoured, Evans will be retaining some stake in the club. He's not totally breaking his connection.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

This is a very good point.

Reckon Evans is thinking change of Manager coupled with being starved of football for the best part of 2 years will have them pouring in.

No season ticket renewals until Evans sells!

Or he could be travelling to watch games to show potential buyers how much he ‘loves ‘ the club and only a substantial amount of cash will prise it from him?

Don’t think you can draw any conclusions from this, one way or the other!

Crown Oil Stadium

Always been known as Spotland.

If ME sponsored Portman Road would you call it Marcus Evans Arena or Portman Road?

There is lots to discuss at present contracts, takeover, new management team. If he is only in the country for a few days makes sense to there. Hopefully watching that he realises we need a new squad and he will hand the reins over.

The only Muff in Town.

Bet he can’t wait to correct people referring to Portman Road when our new overlords arrange sponsorship for the stadium. All hail the Dunkin Donuts Arena

"Hard to disagree with that, why would he bother going to Rochdale of all places if he was on the cusp if flogging the club?"

You mean apart from the fact that one of the Marcus Evans Group's main offices is in Manchester?
It's likely he organises his time to work in Manchester when Town are playing locally.

Doesn't mean he's about to sell the club, but to imply he followed the team coach all the way up to the North West, rather than being there anyway, is just lazy journalism.
