"This place isn’t what it was,” said John Carnon, a roofer working on his small motorboat in Penpol Creek, just south of Truro. “I’ve been coming here for 30 years but now there are people who have moved in with loads of money who think they own everything.”

"People have worked these creeks and estuaries for hundreds of years,” he said. “The ones who complain about the boats are the same ones who would move next to a village church and then complain about the bells ringing.”
Should be very heavily taxed, second homes are killing communities down in Cornwall. Not right that homes are not lived in for most of the year, and local people who provide the essential services and their children are priced out.

The Cornish have had this for years.
Monied outsiders coming in and throwing their weight about.
I worked in St Ives for 3 summers when I was at Uni in the late 90s at my uncle's pub. The people I'm still in touch with from then say it's changed a lot. All the locals have been priced out of the property in the town centre now, the cheap little rented flats above shops are going for stupid money that are way out of range for most locals now.

Same throughout a lot of the South West as well. There’s been a fair bit of ghettoisation where a lot of the locals can now only afford to live in the towns.
Sure, they or their parents and grandparents cashed in but this changes a lot in these areas. My family was part of the problem in West Somerset when we were “incomers” but the result is a village where basic services struggle because everyone who comes in has a car and doesn’t use the bus, socialises at home rather than at the pub, shops online rather than locally etc. etc.
Still lovely parts of the world but increasingly sterile and another type of commuter belt that doesn’t have its own sustainable purpose.

Not just Cornwall. Take a look at most of the East Coast.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
Currently staying just outside St Austell for a week. Going out and about in the car we have noticed an awful lot of new houses being built that are not cheap.
Was in Penzance Sunday and saw a few newish blocks of flats along the sea front.
Shame because it is a lovely part of the country!
