I'm going on a tour of England (and Wales and Scotland) in an Electrical Vehicle 05:28 - Jul 5 with 2353 viewswkj

Unlike the Moped, this one is actually real... in parts.

I am taking me'mate Cleaner with me on a post lockdown tour of Ol'Blighty once I take ownership of a Corsa-E next month. He and I will both be fully vaccinated by then - so after 18 months of restrictions and much long time being agoraphobic myself - I am going to blow out the cobwebs.

I am going to go to Brighton and Scotland, so there will be very few places off of the tour for the mainland.

Where should one visit for the eyecandy shots (taken on a Google Pixel 5)

The basic itinerary, but likely to adjust based on suggestions.

Over the past six months I have driven to Edinburgh to walk up Arthur’s Seat, where you will find some superb phot opportunities.

Then onto Plymouth, where the Lido is striking at Plymouth Hoe and lends itself well to some great picture opportunities.

Then Whitstable, for Oysters amongst the fishing boats as well as Dover to snap the Cliffs and Brighton to stroll along the beach.

That's a tour of Britain, then ;)

If you can get up that way, the north-west coast of Scotland from Applecross up to Durness is stunning. If you do pass that way, go on a whale watching trip from Gairloch, absolutely brilliant - assuming you're going in mid/late August, you'll be hitting Minke Whale migration through the Minch.

If you don't want to go that far north, then a loop of the Cairngorms will do the job, going round from Perth > Blairgowrie (where I live) > Glenshee > Braemar > Tomintoul > Grantown. This is a more interesting route round the Cairngorms than the A9.

If you're just popping over into S Scotland, the road from Moffat to Selkirk has some really beautiful spots on it at Carrifran, Grey Mare's Tail and Cappercleugh.

If you post a route closer to the time I can give lots of tips - I work as an ecologist in Scotland & have covered lots of miles!

Not quite the same Kudos or wow factor as doing it on a ped though.

Bet the snow doesnt affect you either.

Over the last decade we’ve done a number of cycle tours around Britain… may I humbly suggest perhaps this route for your driving tour!!

- Brighton
- up towards Winchester through downs AONB, Winchester nice
- down south west through new forest to Bournemouth
- Bournemouth a good town, then though Poole, go via Poole chain ferry is Isle of Purbeck
- that area glorious… Corfe castle, swanage etc
- go along the Jurassic coast, it’s glorious
- forget Cornwall, Devon too busy
- head north west through Somerset… glorious villages
- visit Bristol probably UKs best city
- head to Swansea and mumbles, pembrokeshire coast
- hit snowdonia national park - stunning… portmerion great
- head across north Wales and head to chatsworth and the peaks - go to blue John mine
- now time for Yorkshire dales… and heading to the lakes, glorious
- head for the north lakes, less busy, ullswater, glenridding, troutbeck
- now keep going north of Carlisle to hit the Dumfries and Galloway forest park… undiscovered gem
- now just hug the coast all the way to Applecross, via Mallaig and perhaps Skye
- head south east to Pitlochry and Loch Rannoch way… climb Schiehallion
- now back via the wonderful Edinburgh to take in the river tweed area.. now back in the England
- do Northumberland - probably one of the UKs best areas… so many places but castles and coast perfect
- now back via Lincolnshire wolds
- do the north Norfolk coast then down to hit southwold, orford and Woodbridge
- go via Ipswich to watch us humiliate Morecombe
- return to Dover

Ta da!!!

Enjoy - and very interested to hear how your charging goes!!!

Trip looks grand - I'd recommend swapping in a different mountain for Ben Nevis, and think about doing the whiskey in Speyside:
https://www.visitscotland.com/see-do/food-drink/whisky/distilleries/speyside/

Really nice area and the doesn't get as busy as the other bits and would end up with less driving, but all is good.

If you do go to Islay, take the little ferry over to Jura to visit the distillery and (if you're fit) have a go at the Paps of Jura:

Nice places in the Cotswolds include:

Cotswold Water Park (pretty)
Bibury (pictureque)
Chedworth Roman Villa (for the history)
Crickley Hill and Painswick Beacon (for the views)
Bits of Cheltenham (Regency)
Bourton-on-the-Water (tourist trap)
Stow-on-the-Wold/Moreton-in-Marsh (Cotswold towns)
Broadway Tower (for the views)
Loads of lanes to drive around, with views across the hills and pretty villages to see (the drive from Kineton via Roel Gate to near Charlton Abbots, then up to Winchcombe or down to Syreford and then Whittington is, in my view, classic north-west Cotswold scenery).

Good pubs include:
https://www.innatfossebridge.co.uk/
The Fox at Lower Oddington was good, but has recently changed hands, not had a chance to try it since
https://thegoldenheart.co.uk/
The Mill at Withington
Green Dragon at Cowley (if you can get a table, also look out for the Mouseman furniture and fittings)
https://www.thecravenarms.co.uk/
https://royaloakgretton.co.uk/ (nice view up the Avon Vale from the garden)

If you stray into the Severn Vale, Tewkesbury is worth a visit, especially if the banners are on display.
Good pubs by the river:

The Boat at Ashleworth was good, but may have closed

Did consider that… and has lovely rolling countryside, villages, hop vibe, and some interesting coast towns…. But falls short compared to other similar places en route!

Or perhaps I don’t know Kent well enough

You should think about the North coast 500 while in Scotland, a tour from Inverness up to John O'Groats and follow the coast road round to Applecross and straight back across to Inverness, link for route and info only to show some of the views.

Swap that for a stop in Lechlade on the Thames.

Cracking little campsite on the edge of the village - http://bridgehousecampsite.co.uk/ and a short stroll to a few pubs and a cracking little curry house.

Good shout Mr BBBx2

No pubs or curry house nearby me.....

And I was a little worried by WKJ's travel companion

Cleaner seems to come across as a little....shall we say, strange

Although he might be willing to run around with the dyson and sparkle the windows

Cleaner doesn't know what you mean by strange. Maybe it is sour grapes because Cleaner is now a multi-Boxoffice topping actor (part-time of course, there is still grime to be dealt with).

Cleaner is quite lookinging forward to the holiday, as long as the OP tidies up after himself
