But buying the wrong ingredients
Having slept on last night and looking at things this morning. I do wonder if we have gone shopping but brought the wrong ingredients.
For example
What ever PC wants to play. 3 5 2 he sadly does not.
We have 4 potential fullback options who are basically wingback rather than fullbacks.
We have strikers who all prefer to play in a front pairing
Wingers who all prefer to be inside forwards.
10's who for some reason don't fit the recipe.
Our squad is superb. Individually better than all. And that's nothing like previous squad claims. This squad is the real.deal.
But I just have this feeling that even with gelling.. I'm not sure we have a balanced squad. Which is crazy when you've signed 16 players.

To get 16 signings absolutely right was never going to happen. I see this as a 2 year rebuild, not every player is going to settle here to. IMO it was always going to be a tough thing to do, this year with everything that’s happened.
People might not want to hear it but it needs some time, play offs have to be the aim this season we also need to be wary of putting too much pressure on too soon. If it goes wrong and we are too disgruntled it could have a big effect on the season.
Is Cook the right man at the wrong time? Maybe, I’ve not been massively impressed so fa. [Post edited 18 Aug 2021 7:36]

I dont buy its a better squad in the slightest. Not one of the new players has done well at a higher leve - many of those who were hastily discarded have - and are.
Not one of the backroom staff or 16 new players know where they are or are presumably segttled in and feeling they belong here
There are still players who have had their noses put out of job by Cook - which cant be good for moral.
If you buy 16 players how many will fit in and succeed - 8?
If you rip the heart (such as it is) out of the club you create a vacuum - and every failure to improve erodes confidence just a bit more - with a manager who is too arrogant and stupid to change his spotts.
Even if you buy into the franchise nonsense it WILL take time - years probably., not four matches against better organised minnows. |  |
