Excuse my ignorance but I can’t remember us having too many Muslim players (Nathan Ellington?). When Ramadan starts will Morsy train and play as usual?

Most athletes will still train and play, but they will be planning around the limitations of no food or water in daylight hours. There might be some managing of Morsy, doing less out in the hot sun etc... however some Muslims might have a day off for competition that they'll make up after Ramadan. It's obviously a personal thing for every person.

I heard someone discussing it for Salah, and I think I heard that pro athletes sometimes break their fast. But even those who don’t will carry on playing.

It seems Morsy adheres to fasting, or at least has in the past, and just tweaks training to fit - https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/football/sam-morsy-says-fasting-during-ramadan-

Ramadan is the whole of April.

Salah is known for banking it and catching up later in the year. I'm not sure what Allah thinks of that!

I think some others do too. And probably rightly so. If a devout Christian said they couldn't play because of clashes with religious holidays or something similar, the club would rightly tell them where to go. But if people's beliefs can be accommodated without affecting their play, then it it would be churlish not to accommodate them.

I don’t think Mallorca told Carlos Roa anything when he found out he couldn’t play games on Sundays

Just to clarify, for those interested, Ramadan falls on the same days as the month of April this year, but that is coincidental. The calculation of Ramadan, as of many Jewish and Christian festivals, is based on the lunar calendar, not the solar year. Ramadan is the whole of the ninth month of the lunar calendar year.

I hope he's getting plenty of water if it can be done.

I'd rather do a couple of days without food than 12 hours without liquid.

Truly impaired.

In Nigeria we used to get religious holidays as well as national ones. Being a part Muslim part Christian country, we would get a couple of days for Eid as well as Crimbo/Easter.

The dates for Eid were dependent on when the religious leader saw the moon to signify the 2 day holiday. If it was cloudy, the holiday might be delayed a day or two. Thankfully he always saw it on a Wednesday thus ensuring the holiday (Thurs/Fri) ran into the weekend :-)

Nathan Ellington was the last muslim player I can recall for us.
