I didn't remember that, thought that was why they were so emotional.

The pivotal figure in the Gamechanger takeover as well! Of all his achievements on the field for us, he could make his biggest difference off the field 25 or so years after he left us!

Love that you pluck Bruce Twamley from the depths of the grey matter but Yallop slips the mind! On the subject of Yallop, does he have to be one of the most underrated Town legends? Far lesser servants and players seem to get more air time than Frank.

Despite the connection, I doubt his link had too much to do with the takeover, as good a story as it might be!

I think because I jumped straight from Forrest to De Vos because of their current involvement I overlooked him. Must be fairly high up in the appearance makers. Not in the Hall of Fame that I can recall.

Just checked, if Wiki is to be believed its 389 appearances of 13 seasons. Promotion winner of course, and POTS. I was given a matchworn shirt of his in the early 90's, I still have it. Speaking of De Vos, not sure how he gets in to the HoF but Yallop doesn't.

It may just be that he's not been over for the dinner and he's one lined-up to get inducted next time he's over. They try to induct people when they're going to be at the dinner.

One of only thirteen foreign players to play on the first day day of the Premier League. (Not counting Irish as foreign, I guess, though I'm not sure) But how come he landed up playing for Chelsea on loan? Did Town have two better keepers on their books?

Richard Wright had established himself ahead of him. We didn't need a second keeper as Wright made 200 consecutive appearances. Lee Bracey came in as the second choice at around that time and never made a senior appearance.

4 of the 13 were keepers too, only 9 outfield 'foreigners' on the opening day of the Premier League in 1992. Prize for anyone who can name the other 3 keepers. 1 is particularly tough....

Schmeichel and Stejskal got mentioned. The third would be Hans Segers at Wimbledon.

there were actually more foreigners lining up on the first day of the 1981/82 season than there were in 1992/93, English football had become very unfashionable during the 80s [Post edited 28 Mar 2022 18:44]
