Obviously, we have statues of Sir Alf, Bobby, and Kevin Beattie, we have stands named after Sir Alf, Bobby, and the Cobbold's but in terms of legacy and recognition, where do John Wark and George Burley sit?
Surely given their contributions to the club over three decades as players/manager they deserve a statue as well? Maybe rename what was the Britannia stand after either of those?
Or are so many statues overkill for a club like ours? Three is already a lot.

beat me to it. when my wife and i last had the v.i.p. lounge experience walky was in there doing his p.r. bit. the meal was crap but having the m.o.t.m picked by another table and walky giving their eye view of the game was worth the price of the ticket. |  |

I think there's a lot to be said for that. The mention of Warky reinforces the difficulty for me. Not only was the Beat commemorated as our greatest player, but he lived locally and didn't really have a decent playing career after Town. Warky, on the other hand, though his longevity is beyond dispute, left to achieve his greatest glory elsewhere.
Given also that people not unnaturally are more likely to give their support to the more contemporary player than the ancient one, then letting the issue cool over a number of years while memories are mulled over and matured makes it less likely that the choice of commemoration ends up being contentious. | |

Obviously Sir Alf and Sir Bobby are completely justifiable even though I never saw their teams play.
I did wonder though what stood Beattie apart from the likes of Wark, Burley and Mills though to make him deserving of a statue and them not? |  |
