Calling all American Football fans 07:20 - Aug 29 with 941 views | Chrisd | A must watch on Disney+ 'Man in the Arena'. Tom Brady talks through his Super Bowl seasons and their background stories. It’s really interesting to listen to Brady, how he talks, his mindset and attitude to different situations, you can see why he’ll be recognised as one of the game’s greatest QBs when he officially retires. A really good watch for any American Football fan, regardless of the team you follow. [Post edited 29 Aug 2022 14:01]

Calling all American Football fans on 11:00 - Aug 29 with 818 views | ArnoldMoorhen | "One of the game's greatest QBs"? Lol, not even close. Other QBs can throw it further, and most are more mobile. But Brady beats them all on ball protection, clock management (peak-Brady's No Huddle Offense was a steamroller, which could be turned on or off at will, depending on the game situation), fitness and self-management, work ethic and, above all, team before self. It's that last one which was the key to the success of the Pats. The contrast with Aaron Rodgers, who has Brady well beaten on arm and rushing, couldn't be more pronounced. Brady understands that first and foremost NFL is a team game, and you consistently win if you make the team greater than the sum of its parts. Brady won some of his Superbowls with a very good Defense and next to nothing on Offense. He was prepared to trench fight the lowest scoring Superbowl in years because he understood that that was what was needed. Team before personal passing numbers. His first Superbowl win isn't a bad story, either. Incredible mental strength to come in in Post-Season to replace the injured Franchise Quarterback and play so well that, once Bledsoe had recovered, an utterly inexperienced Brady was favoured for the Superbowl. And delivered. Ditto leaving New England behind and doing it all again at Tampa (and coming close the following season). Tom Brady loses out to so many other Quarterbacks on the flash stats. But beats them on the ones that consistently win post-season games. Football has the debate between Pele and Maradona, and Messi and Ronaldo. Cricket doesn't have a debate on best batsman, because Bradman's record is so much better than anyone else's. Brady is in the same category. Undisputed Greatest of All Time.

He’s American Football’s version of Pelé. Unbelievable player. Thanks to the OP for highlighting this; I’ll watch it when I’m back home in the week.

Brady was lucky in that the Patriots were in a totally uncompetitive division - which made the post season unavoidable and often led to home advantage in the post season there is little doubt that some bloke called Bellichick had something to do with the Patriots long term success. Can’t agree he had feeble offense - some of those who turned out with Brady were hall of famers. Other teams such as the Colts made offense look easy with a generational QB and little known offence too. It’ll be interesting to see how the Patriots’ unheralded Brady replacement fares - especially as the Bills look set to dominate their division for years. Having said all that moving to Tampa and winning the Super Bowl was indeed GOAT material

If you watch the first few episodes of Man in the Arena when the Patriots win their first 3 Superbowls and create that dynasty, Brady admits that. He recognised that Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger were better QBs with a higher pedigree, but Brady played for a better team with a very good defence and a first class Head Coach in Bill Belichick. His focus is very much on the Patriots as a collective 'TEAM' rather than individuals. Nevertheless, no one can question Brady's durability, mental toughness and longevity. He's a freak in NFL terms and the fact he did again at Tampa Bay shows his quality. [Post edited 29 Aug 2022 14:05]

Calling all American Football fans on 18:22 - Aug 29 with 539 views | belgablue | Thanks for the tip. I'm not much of a fan but enjoy the documentaries and films, and as a spectacle the couple of NFL games I've been to live were up there with the best sports I've been to. Aside from actual football.
