...an all-time 'match that still gies you nightmares' ITFC XI.
A line up of individuals' with a match day performance that has you waking up in a cold sweat
GK - was tempting to just go with Andy Marshall, but I've gone with Aran Lee-Barrret for his nightmare in the League Cup against Northampton in 2011
RB - Drissa Diallo. Tell me you don't her his name and see Matthew blood Etherington bearing down on him
CB Mark Fish - an obvious, but classic one
CB
LB
RM
CM - Johnathan Douglas - the classic Newcastle away performance of 'legend'.
CM - Vemund Brekke Skard - turns out, a PE teacher on the pitch was nearly as bad an idea as one as CEO
LM
CF - Richard Naylor - I liked Bam-Bam. A lot. It's probably unfair to single him out for his performance against Inter when he had the thankless task of playing up front on his own.
CF -
Manager - Keane, at home on the telly to Newcastle, on Bobby Robson memorial day

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
Drissa Diallo has to be in at full back for that dreadful 45 minutes against West Ham in the play off semi final. David Kerslake as the other full back for his shocker at Charlton (0-3) in November 1997. I think he made one further Town appearance as a sub. Add Georges Santos to in midfield. He may have played there only once, can't remember which game.
CB Luke Chambers in the 5-0 stuffing at Crystal Palace, November 2012, in Mick McCarthy's 2nd or 3rd game in charge. Possibly worse than Mark Fish, I was amazed that he recovered from it.

Left Back - Tommy Smith away to Peterborough...4-1 down, concedes a penalty (which he ends up getting sent off for) to make it 5-1, and end up losing 7-1. Probably a bit unfair to single him out when Lee Martin had already been (stupidly) sent off, and weren't many players on the pitch that day that covered themselves in glory...
Lee-Barrett - for his performance v Norwich in the 5-1 drubbing Ben Thatcher - an appalling signing and while Keane got much wrong he didn’t when he booted Thatcher out. A memorable game was one at h9me when he was sent off for a second yellow half way through the second half. It was a miracle he didn’t go earlier. Loathsome man Drissa Diallo- yep, what a memory Ivar Ingimarson - I can’t remember who we played, but Ivar had his feet glued to the ground. Permanently. Mark Fish - no words necessary Jonathan Douglas - Newcastle away and every time he walked onto a pitch Luke Hyam - the Brentford challenge. It was awful. Why didn’t McCarthy sub him? It was obvious to everyone bar MM what’d happen next. And it did. Brekke Skard - ludicrous Sylvan Ebanks-Blake - waddled out for his pension money Lee Chapman - stood about with a pained expression Ulrich Le Pen - my dad said ‘for f sake he won’t last five minutes’ he was wrong. 16 minutes. Manager - Jewell for that Norwich hiding. I couldn’t sleep after that. It was Newcastle humiliation, which was bad enough, then some because it was Norwich.

Interestingly though - yes, Chambo did have the occasional howler but he just got on with it - it actually never seemed to affect him - he bounced back. His good performances far far outweigh the bad ones.
Ade Akinbiyi couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo...

If we are going down this route....a mention must go out to million pound man Tony Dinning.

I did think of him but couldn’t remember any performances. Says it all really.
Glenn Pennyfather was another. Only we could sign a player with one leg shorter than the other, so had a built up boot. The way he played, I think they built up the wrong boot.

That was never a pen by the way, it was almost outside the D let alone the penalty area.
GK Lee Pullen v Grimsby. Cue Chesney Hawkes singing "One and Only", partly because it was his one and only League game for us, partly because it's the one and only goal involving a back-pass at Portman Road that comes close to Bryan Gunn's howler.
LB Zeki Fryers v Huddersfield (Away). The performance for which the phrase "Are you absolutely certain that he's a professional footballer?" was invented.

Didn't Tommy Oar only last until half time on his debut against Huddersfield? I can't remember why, but shortly after claimed homesickness and wanted his contract terminated.

That was a weird one all round wasn't it?
He came with quite the pedigree and then.....that happened.

No matter what he may have done or not done in other games Naylor gets a free pass from this sort of line up for his goal and "that" pull down of the long pass in the play-off final.
