Seem to recall he was briefly a shining light under Lambert. Was it v Milwall he scored and looked a genuine prospect? Derailed by injuries and a club in turmoil. A long time ago in ITFC years. Let’s hope he’s quiet tomorrow night

It's my own personal theory that we had a whole swathe of young players ruined by the Evans era's half arsed approach to....well, everything.

How might the likes of Nydam, Dozzell, Bishop and the aforementioned Lankester have worked out if we'd had a proper club set up to coach, manage injuries and development?

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Yes, Milwall, great goal too……

Yes, he never seemed to get over that injury which was a shame as there was clear ability there. He did score another very good goal against Sunderland, and a point blank header, in 2020-21 too.

Looked a prospect when he burst onto the scene but have to say he was absolutely dreadful in his last season here.

He certainly wasn't alone in that though, in his last season.

Nydam I feel was a slight anomaly as the injury was horrible.

Good point. There were a few candidates for clown of the season, but he was certainly in the top 5. I would stick him in there with Josh Harrop, Troy Parrot, Oliver Hawkins and Keanan Bennetts.

Absolute dross.

Totally agree with that.
The club recklessly threw young players with barely a handful of U21s games into the cut and thrust of Championship. Bishop for example played a number of Championship games through a growth spurt which caused him a lot of alignment related injuries. Lankester a double stress fracture in his back !
Good to see we are drip feeding Humphreys with first team football, while allowing him to train and properly fill out.

Lankester also never really recovered from the bad back injury either - if memory serves.

He was, I thought, the best out of that bunch we had then. Scored that goal, went off. We were then bullied by Millwalls substitutions and lost...

I think fact he was playing as an 8 didn't help him as just isn't a role he'd played in years - was basically a striker for the 18s then became a 10/wide forward but Lambert was playing him in a midfield 3

For all his struggles he still popped up with a couple of goals, some assists and seemed to make a difference where it mattered (i.e. goal contributions in a farily flat side) compared to most others mentioned

After being called a candidate for clown of the season, dreadful etc, on here, his hat-trick tonight is inevitable.
