How might the likes of Nydam, Dozzell, Bishop and the aforementioned Lankester have worked out if we'd had a proper club set up to coach, manage injuries and development?

He certainly wasn't alone in that though, in his last season.

Nydam I feel was a slight anomaly as the injury was horrible.

Good point. There were a few candidates for clown of the season, but he was certainly in the top 5. I would stick him in there with Josh Harrop, Troy Parrot, Oliver Hawkins and Keanan Bennetts. Absolute dross.

Totally agree with that. The club recklessly threw young players with barely a handful of U21s games into the cut and thrust of Championship. Bishop for example played a number of Championship games through a growth spurt which caused him a lot of alignment related injuries. Lankester a double stress fracture in his back ! Good to see we are drip feeding Humphreys with first team football, while allowing him to train and properly fill out. [Post edited 3 Oct 2022 15:17]

Lankester also never really recovered from the bad back injury either - if memory serves.

I think fact he was playing as an 8 didn't help him as just isn't a role he'd played in years - was basically a striker for the 18s then became a 10/wide forward but Lambert was playing him in a midfield 3 For all his struggles he still popped up with a couple of goals, some assists and seemed to make a difference where it mattered (i.e. goal contributions in a farily flat side) compared to most others mentioned
