Savannta

🌹Lab 50 (+7)
🌳Con 25 (-4)
🔶LD 11 (-1)
🎗️SNP 3 (-2)
🌍Gre 3 (-1)
⬜️Other 8 (=)

2,113 UK adults, 30 Sept - 2 Oct

Giving Lab an overall majority of 400 and lead over the Tories of 492

Lab 525
Con 33

This is merely increasing Labours lead to 'off the scale' proportions - far exceeding anything Blair achieved. However, is far more a measure of the disgust in which voters hold Truss and Kwateng

How much that disgust is a response to having their first taste of what brexit means from a government, is not known

What is known is that even their worst results in over 100 years, 1997, they polled 30.7%. This is going to require a massive swing to regain figures that might suggest a possible hung Parliament.

I cannot see the lunacy of Truss/Kwarteng doing anything to help that, other than continuing on this suicidal path.

Normally I’d say that a government with a massive majority is bad, as overtime, it’ll lead to that government becoming lazy and arrogant. Thinking that they can get through any legislation with minimum thought. But, I think it’ll do the Tories some good if they were to be completely and utterly humiliated.

It could well lead to this current ‘brand’ of Diet UKIP being discarded for more moderate policies. If the Tom Hunts don’t like it then they can go to UKIP (or whatever it’s called now).

Democracy needs strong opposition.

Because that was the only acceptable narrative coming from our political and media class. Corbyn would have been a lot better for the country, but truly disastrous for their influence- and access-trading industry.

Oh and to achieve that, these people along with the fanboys and girls who love the game of politics, told or regurgitated innumerable lies and smears. Hence the silence whenever the actual evidence came out.

When European social democracy becomes the “far left” and we become blind to both the underlying socio-economic issues affecting the UK population as well as the subterfuge and dishonesty needed to maintain this rampant self-interest in our politics, it’s pretty smooth sailing towards right-wing populism and awful governments.

It’s not deja vu, it’s been this way – sliding right and downwards – for decades. But certainly the last decade no-one can be under any illusion any more.

We’ll do Cambridge tonight, I reckon. We’re overdue handing someone a thumping.

I feel strangely positive too. It’s hard to see them outplaying us. Doesn’t mean they can’t score, but you have to feel we are better.

Agreed. My only worry is that we often tend to overplay in the attacking third and can lose our way.

We’re in League One so obviously not as clinical or consistent as players in higher divisions playing with the same ambition, so that’s no real criticism. But as we’re in League One, sometimes we just need to play it earlier and quicker into the danger zone and see what happens. That’s the sort of service to Ladapo that I feel has been lacking a little.

I know what you mean. But, despite all that, we are the leagues top scorers.

I think sometimes we haven't picked out players for our final pass as well as we could. Jackson I felt was a bit guilty of that couple of games back. They need a bit more composure over that final ball.

Does your brain get switched on anew every morning, with all the previous data wiped ?

I have consistently said that a poll is merely a snapshot of voters thoughts at the day(s) of it being taken.

And in that regard, this week's various polls have shown a very strong and consistent disgust with Truss trying to bring in brexit ie a meltdown in the Tory vote.

However, given that Labour have had a commanding lead for 9 months, it might suggest a Labour GE win. Which is about as accurate as any horse race. Past form being etc. And as dear old superMac once commented 'events, dear boy events'. Much as we have seen these past 10 day, where a Tory deficit in the polls, doubled in a matter of days. With a couple of polls even pointing to the Tories being left with just 3 MPs after the next GE.

Neither is it accurate to say there are still two years to go. There is a MAXIMUM of two years. Not the same thing. As there is no longer the Fixed Term Parliament Act.

So again, for the not too bright on here. I've put up these polls, and they have been commissioned, because they are extraordinary. A collapse of the Tory vote not seen in the past 100 years, and I would venture, in their history - such is the disquiet with Truss.

However, having explained things. I have no doubt numpties will claim that somewhere within this post I have stated that Labour are set for a GE win with a thumping majority, a few hundred as well.

But there, the stupid have always been among us - we would not have left the EU were it not so.

Pound is up to US$ 1.15. Was at US$ 1.03 last week. Conservative comeback possible? Don't think they deserve it though. Labour should have it in the bag, but you never know. I would die laughing if they blew it.

I don't think you quite grasp what is going on. Before brexit the pound was around $1.43.

However, since Truss attempted to put Brexit in place peoples mortgages have risen, while others lost out as mortgages were withdrawn. That's what concerns voters - the thought of losing their homes.

It has now dawned on even the dimmest brexiter that the guff about sending naughty foreigners back, was just nonsense to get elected. There is no levelling up, and reducing the state simply means less money for schools, hospitals, infrastructure, police, ambulances etc.................and welfare.

Quite a few million voters have been taken for a ride, and that knowledge will not go away because of a few cents rise in the pound (only back to where it was before the loon Truss farked things up) - at a cost of £65billion from the BofE.

As to the above poll that shows even the northern cap doffers seem to have woken up at last. Those figures would leave the Tories with three seats, and labour almost 600.

The reality is as long as Truss is PM and continues with the madcap Brexit, Tories will continue to slide in the polls. Whether to stick or twist must be upper most virtually every Tory MPs mind.

Conferences are usually a time to rally the troops. Whereas these past three days have been a car crash. Infighting now out in the open, idiotic comments a plenty, u-turns, conflicting messages and a PM who does not appear to have a clue what she is doing.

It is becoming increasingly clear that it is a matter of when rather than if, regarding Truss being replaced. Whether that might trigger a GE is the real question now.
