That was far far harder than it should've been. on 17:00 - Oct 8 with 1703 views | Whos_blue | Winning dirty has been our week spot for so long. Getting it over the line is ultimately the most important thing. We can play our silky football again another day.

As I just posted, far from our best but, actually, we still played OK. I genuinely think Morecombe are a proper bogey side for us.

That was far far harder than it should've been. on 17:03 - Oct 8 with 1617 views | clive_baker | First half was pretty poor wasn't it, but got over the line in the end. Not one we'll look back at as a top performance but equally we've scored 2, missed a pen and hit the woodwork 3 times. By our recent standards it was less controlled though, I thought we looked a bit more suspect at the back which perhaps is to be expected with a personnel change there in the middle. I like TJJ as a bit of a wild card off the bench but I'm not a fan of him #10 from the start, I don't think he's good enough with his back to goal and the sooner we can get Camara fit the better IMO.

Winning ugly is a great quality to have though. The opening 15 minutes of the second half was a good watch, we tore them to pieces. Managed the game out well too and could have nicked another.

Oddly, as Dubs has said, we could look back on this result as the kind of result, historically, we struggled to get - so in actuality, one we can look back on with fondness.

Too right. These are in my opinion the most important games. Win all these and then the pressure is off for games against the top teams. So result is all important.

Result, yeah for sure. Any win is a good result, especially away. I don't think the performance was great though, especially first half. Much less measured than we've become used to but you'll always get days like today and the top teams grind out wins.

Yep, will have off days and it is better that it is against teams like this that we can still be confident of overcoming. That hasn't been the case here for a long time.

Yep. The bad elements were a throwback to previous years, but the way we overcame them is one of the differences from back then.

That was far far harder than it should've been. on 17:13 - Oct 8 with 1427 views | BigCommon | You've only got to look at today's other results to see that nothing should be taken for granted, especially when we're playing away from home... The penalty miss gave them a lift, just when we looked like getting the game by the scruff.. Horrible, ugly game, imo. But a decent away win, 3 pts, on to the next game.. Could criticise the team selection. But in the same breath, could praise the half time talk. We looked better 2nd half. Morsey , imo, drove us along...Fridge had a decent game. I wondered whether Morecambe left their grass an inch or two longer. The ball seemed to get held up a bit , imo.

A degree of credit to Morecombe, especially in the first half. They pressed as a team and gave us very little time and forced us to play much more of their game than ours. However, better second half, clearly KM got his message through and we ground it out.

That was far far harder than it should've been. on 17:16 - Oct 8 with 1388 views | J2BLUE | No it wasn't. There was nothing about an away game at Morecambe where they openly admitted what they would do that suggested this would be easy. It was every bit the game we were expecting and despite riding our luck a little we got the win with fight. When you have fight and quality you are very hard to stop. One of those wins like Burton where we will look back and think that was huge.

Definitely must have upped their game. There is no way they would be where they are if they always played like this.

That was far far harder than it should've been. on 17:16 - Oct 8 with 1376 views | Churchman | In a funny sort of way, that’s the most important win of the three. Your not going to win well every week (Man City apart) or win every week come to that and digging out results like to day is the hallmark of a decent team. Nine points in eight days against third/fourth, mid table and bottom - what’s not to like? Even Portsmouth and P’Boro failed to win and to add a little icing, Norwich lost. Happy days.

I disagree. They showed fight today, but they have been terrible this season, had so many injuries today they couldn't even name a full bench. With the players at our disposal we should've seen them off easily. However, like I said, 3 points are 3 points. We have shown different attributes today, which is no bad thing. I’m sure there would have been plenty of games last season where Wigan and Rotherham didn’t look at it but came away with something. We’re not going to be exhilarating every game, good win when a few others have dropped points.

They played to their strengths. It is clear that teas raise their game against us as Burton and Morecambe has now proven. We weren't great, especially in the first half, but we are not simply going to turn up and win for any away game. We will need to fight for it.

Agree. If we dropped points today, that wastes our tremendous efforts against Portsmouth.

I agree on your last point, but that doesn't change that should've still been a lot more comfortable. However, certainly not going to complain about 3 points!

That was far far harder than it should've been. on 17:42 - Oct 8 with 1165 views | BloomBlue | I actually wasn't surprised by our first half performance. We've had three tough competitive games with 2 great wins. Not saying we were over confident or arrogant but seen that happened so many times in football where a team drop down a level in performance off the back of some great performances. The key thing is not to let that drop in performance continue into the 2nd half, which we didn't.

Definitely. Don't get me wrong. I'm impressed that we got 3 points from that and ultimately the result is the most important thing. Unlike previous years, I'm also not worried about us playing like that. We will have bad games and it is good that we still win them. But it was harder than it should've been. Onwards to Lincoln. It must be hard to maintain that intensity and quality in front of 5,000 fans in a far flung corner of the country after playing in front of 26-28,000 fans previously.
