OK, who went to Morecambe with Covid then 15:00 - Oct 13 with 3387 viewsSaleAway

Forgot that I had the NHS covid app, but just got pinged for a close contact on Saturday.

Anyone else had that?

Is that still a thing? There are loads of scams about at the mo. I was with someone who tested positive a couple of days later. The next day I got a text saying I’d been in contact with someone who’d tested positive and should apply for a free PCR test (or something). So freaky I almost fell for it.

I test prior to visiting elderly parents and parents-in-law but apart from that, no.

Same here. If I feel rough I test before seeing my elderly mum but that's it.

If you want to be on the safe side you can get Lateral Flow Tests from Savers for £1.75 or thereabouts.

I too do a LFT before seeing my dad and again apart from that no. I still keep hand gel in the car and use it, but suspect that’s more a panacea than anything else.

Most places have dropped the requirements to wear a mask and most people I see have, including me.

According to a scientific study of air transmission, the most dangerous place for catching Covid is public transport, so I wear a mask on trains unless the carriage is fairly quiet.

Interesting. I have used the bus and train in the last week and didn’t wear a mask tbh. They were empty though.

That's fine. I'd just be inclined to wear one if they're busy, given that rates are pretty high according to the Zoe App I use. But it's up to you whether you're happy to look like a bit of a lemon/pariah given that virtually no one wears one these days.

It wasn't a text, it was a notification through the covid app. So not a scam, but I'd forgotten I still had the covid app. Given that I just ignored it, has now been uninstalled.

Why did they close 3rd of the stand off for. More space then . Last year no issue, same number of fans.

Because they were replacing the pitchside hoardings on that side. I think this was the "building work" they referred to when they decided not to sell standing tickets on the day.

I look a bit of a twonk with or without a mask. In fact my buddies reckoned the mask was an improvement! Seriously, I’ve got out of the habit of carrying one, but can see scenarios where it’s sensible (busy trains, underground etc).

But isn't the main effect of wearing a mask to stop you passing on the virus, I thought that most masks had a very limited use for protecting against catching the virus ?

Mind you, if by wearing a mask you help others who are withering a little bit on the mask wearing front and encourage them to get back on track then it does have a good effect. And, of course, you might also have Covid-19 and not realise.

That view doesn't accord with the science, and I think was encouraged early on by the Government when they didn't want public demand for masks to affect the NHS acquisition of them. Of course, some masks are better than others but even just a cloth mask is better than none. For what it is worth, I wear an FFP3 mask which offers over 99% protection. In Germany, the advice was to wear an FFP2 mask (95% protection) but for some reason our Government remained silent on the issue.

Where do you get yours from please, if you don't mind me asking? - and do they have headloops or earloops (I prefer headloops, find them more comfortable to wear with specs).

I have FFP3 masks with both headloops and earloops. Paranoid? Moi?

Those with headloops loops fit better, and the ones I have are the 3M masks that they use on Covid wards. As they are a bit over the top, I have only used them on flights which is where I have felt at greatest risk, and they are a bit pricey.

The company I used for the 3M masks is on the following link but I think such companies are really making vast profits because I can't imagine the NHS pays that much.

https://www.medisave.co.uk/3m-aura-disposable-ffp3-healthcare-respirator-iir-186

Those with earloops are much cheaper and are the ones I normally use. The ones I bought recently are on the following link.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/FFP3-Mask-Certified-Units-CE0370/dp/B09R4TTKFZ/ref=sr_1

However, if you prefer those with headloops and don't want to pay as much as the 3M masks, there may be other cheaper alternatives if you search.

It's a case of 'Not Only...But Also', my point was not to discourage but to highlight the false sense of security that a mask can give.

'Wearing a face covering or face mask can reduce the number of particles containing viruses that are released from the mouth and nose of someone who is infected with COVID-19 and other respiratory infections. Face coverings can also protect the person wearing the face covering from becoming infected by some viruses.'

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-safely-with-respiratory-infections-including-

So it is important, especially with a rise in cases and winter coming on but it is not the only thing we should be doing and is not a substitute for general awareness of the dangers that this virus still represents.

Great, cheers 👍

Interestingly, I rang a company that does FFP3s to ask if they do headloop ones - their rep informed me that they *only* do headloop ones, because they consider those with earloops to be relatively poor fitting & less safe.

Where have you been for the last 2 years? One of the most well known facts about Covid is that you can have it without obvious symptoms.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
