If you are replying ti the exchange we had here... No more mention of globalism/globalists please. by BanksterDebtSlave 20 Oct 2022 23:43https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/oct/20/jewish-groups-criticise-nigel-farage-for-calling-grant-shapps-globalist
"Marie van der Zyl, the president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said: “Antisemitism experts such as the Anti Defamation League identify ‘globalist’ as a common antisemitic trope based on conspiracy theories about international Jewish power. Politicians should avoid using the term, particularly when referring specifically to Jewish individuals.”
Now I agree that Farage could do with shutting up but this is getting ridiculous isn't it?! ....then I make you bang out of order?! Edit....if anything I would say it is the broad left who have been most vociferous about the excesses of globalist capitalism and that the right have been trying to piggy back the agenda. I'm not going to stop using certain words just because they might also be used by populist. So for example corporate globalism would be the theft of global resources from the public commons(often in the poorest of nation states)by multinationals into the hands of a financial and business elite. Is this now to be regarded as an antisemitic conspiracy trope or a statement of observable fact. [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 17:01]

Farage denying textbook Anti-Semitism it seems on 17:06 - Oct 24 with 1739 views | DJR | I hadn't realised the expression was an anti-semitic trope until a couple of days ago when the host on LBC called out a caller for using it. Indeed, I am not sure I have heard the expressions globalist or globalism used in contrast to the much more common globalisation. Nor did I realise until just now that Grant Shapps is Jewish. Farage would have known both these things given the murky underworld he now inhabits, and knows what he was doing, so I think it is clear he has used the expression in an anti-semitic way.

It is, when it's being used an excuse for antisemitism. Think of it as being like all that faux-sympathy for the 'working classes' that some purport to claim, when what they actually mean is 'white people'. Such as, here: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/mar/28/antisemitism-open-your-eye [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 17:08]

So what we are talking about is the person and not the words. Making the use of certain words unacceptable is a dodgy path IMHO. I think it might be a while before Farage calls out multinationals for stealing wealth from Africa, South America etc...etc...

A lot of anti semitic tropes go unnoticed by the majority of people who don't know the history behind them. Out and out racist abuse is easier to spot. "Go home P**i/N****r/W*g" etc. Whereas anti Jewish racism is usually couched in language that is more subtle but falls back on millenia old tropes that has led to Jewish people people persecuted around the world for nearly 2000 years.

Depends what you mean by original. This Aramaic version is probably nearer to the original Üܒ݂ܘܢ ܕ̇ܒ݂ܫܡÜÜ‎ ܢܬ݂ܩܕÝÜ« ܫܡܟ݂‎ ܬÝÜÜ¬Ý‚Ü Ü¡Ü ÜŸÝܘܬ݂ܟ݂‎ Ü¢Ü—Ü˜Ü Ü¨Ü’Ý‚Üܢܟ݂ ÜÜÜŸÝÜ¢Ü Ü•Ý‚Ü’Ý‚Ü«Ü¡ÜÜ Üܦ݂ Ü’ÝÜܪܥÜ‎ Ü—Ü’Ý‚ Ü Ü¢ Ü ÜšÜ¡Ü Ü•Ý‚Ü£Ü˜Ü¢Ü©Ü¢Ü¢ ÜܘܡܢÜ‎ ܘܫܒ݂ܘܩ Ü Ü¢ ܚܘ̈ܒÝÜÜ¢ ÜÜÜŸÜ¢Ü Ü•Ý‚Üܦ݂ ܚܢܢ ܫܒ݂ܩܢ Ü ÜšÜ̈ܒ݂Üܢ‎ Ü˜Ü Ü Ü¬Ý‚Ü¥Ü Ü¢ Ü Ü¢Ü£ÜÜ˜Ü¢Ü ÜÜ Ü Ü¦Ý‚Ü¨Ü¢ ܡܢ Ü’ÝÜÜ«Ü‎

I think you'll find the "original" Lord's prayer was more like this: Ï€Î¬Ï„ÎµÏ á¼¡Î¼á¿¶Î½ á½ á¼Î½ τοῖς οá½Ïανοῖς á¼Î³Î¹Î±ÏƒÎ¸Î®Ï„ω τὸ ὄνομά σου á¼Î»Î¸Îτω ἡ βασιλεία σου γενηθήτω τὸ θÎλημά σου ὡς á¼Î½ οá½Ïανῷ καὶ á¼Ï€á½¶ γῆς τὸν ἄÏτον ἡμῶν τὸν á¼Ï€Î¹Î¿Ïσιον δὸς ἡμῖν σήμεÏον καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰ ὀφειλήματα ἡμῶν ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλÎταις ἡμῶν καὶ μὴ εἰσενÎγκῃς ἡμᾶς εἰς πειÏασμόν ἀλλὰ ῥῦσαι ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ πονηÏοῦ Beaten to it, naturally, by Facters [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 18:03]

It would make more sense if it was written in Hebrew seeing as it's supposed author, Jesus, was a Jewish man and not Syrian. [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 18:03]

Everything hinges on that word "original" though don't you think? I seem to recall that scholars think Jesus would have spoken an aramaic dialect.
