London folk 09:20 - Nov 4 with 4054 views | hype313 | Need to book a restaurant around Kings Cross/St Pancras and need the advice of a decent place to go, around 10 of us. Wimpy/Mcdees/Nando's are all out unfortunately.

Can't go wrong with Dishoom. You might want to look in Granary Square too, nice spot and a few options there. Shout out too for Barrafina, very good.

Barrafina's amazing. There's several good places in Coal Drops Yard. But before you get there, you can't go wrong with The German Gymnasium if you want bangers and mash
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

Google, St Martins and Guardian HQ will ensure that I loved Kings X when I was there mid 80s - nobody fancies coming anywhere near it

Exactly!! I preferred it when it was full of psycho's and genuinely mad people. We moved away in the end, as you couldn't even get a seat in a back street local on a Tuesday night due to sheer amount of people, constantly in the area. Very much a victim of its own success - but its pushed all the independent shops and bars out. Google execs are welcome to it now.

Prefer the Cally Road now - more local and down to earth

Wonderful Ethopian restaurant called Kokeb near Cally Road, nothing fancy but a little family place on a backstreet. Highly recommend it.

Holy moly! I lived behind that place on Keystone Crescent for many years - we went to the Ethiopian place a few times and it was always entertaining for various reasons. Loved the food, although I think the western gut takes a bit of acclimatisation to the herbs and spices used. I remember a very eventful virgin train toilet experience the morning after.

Cally is my brothers' neck of the woods. I used to like the Islignton bar (not there now - some kind of gaming bar, but was the absolute bollox at one point ages back)

No way. 3 very good friends of mine lived together just off Roman Way, a while ago now this was probably 2012 - 2015. I spent a fair amount of time over that way up from South London where I was living. Woke up hungover many a time at theirs after dinner at Kokeb, beers in the Hemingford and various other haunts around there.

Yeah, top class. Perfect balance of traditional boozer, but also really nice. Not a dive, food is decent, but equally doesn't take itself too seriously. Very much feels like a pub.

The King Charles on North St was always our go to local - a community run pub where you could bring and buy organic vegetables, bet on taxi drivers arm wrestling and openly have a smoke. Miss the guys in there; Apples, an old market trader completely filled our garden with exotic plants for about £40 no questions asked. It was mad, looking back now.
