A few clubs seem to have installed them, I swear I saw them at Pompey I wonder if this is something Ashton will look at, it potentially ups capacity? [Post edited 11 Dec 2022 13:28]

The game has passed him by. Although you can say the same about every QPR player. Completely outplayed

It doesn't increase capacity. But he has mentioned safe standing as a possibility.

Dozzell starts for QPR in Chair's absence on 16:42 - Dec 11 with 3383 views | ibbleobble | His big opportunity came when they signed him a year and a half ago. The fact he has to wait for a start is because he’s become a victim of his own circumstance. I wouldn’t say it was a big opportunity to stake a first team place. I’d say it was more to show he’s worthy of being a squad player.

A new manager on their way. Unlikely to displace Chair unless he is on his way but an impressive performance or two would have at least made the new manager think. It is clear it hasn't gone especially well for him since signing, but getting a start due to Chair's unavailability had to be an opportunity for him. It appears to have been one he was unable to make the most of either. I would love him to succeed but it looks like his career is on a downward trajectory. There are too many shortcomings in his game that he doesn't seem able to overcome. Hopefully a new management and coaching team might change that but I won't hold my breath.

Dozzell starts for QPR in Chair's absence on 20:32 - Dec 11 with 2766 views | ArnieM | He can “ see a pass”. That’s it really. He’s nothing special. He’s slow, lightweight, fouls a lot because he’s easily brushed aside. His name is Dozzell and that’s what he has lived off in the game. He’s never really got over the knee injury in my humble view, and maybe that’s why he’s not quite pushed on since he’s left here. I wish him no ill, but I don’t think he’s anything special in the senior game.

Do you honestly think being the son of Jason Dozzell was why QPR signed him? Their fans probably haven’t heard of him - it’s not like he’s Andre Beckham

He’s started 9 of their 22 games and came on as sub in 10 so fair to say he’s proven to be a squad player at the very least there.

No, of course not. He’s got plenty of ability. When he first started for us, I thought he’d be a better player than his father. Injury and being at ITFC at its lowest ebb hasn’t helped him, but I don’t think he will have the career his dad had. I’m not knocking him - being a professional player is a fantastic achievement. Oh how I’d have loved that. I watched a fair bit of todays game, but seeing a player (unless they’re a Messi, Mbappe or a Bellingham) on tv isn’t really a fair assessment on how he’s doing. Especially as QPR are struggling and are having a change of management. Their supporters are quite divided on him. I think it’s a case if keep working, keep at it. From what bits I’ve seen and given he’s still only 23, I think a good career at Championship standard is probably his level - no mean achievement. I wish him well.

And in how many of those games is he replaced? He’s battling to be part of the squad, not the first name on the team sheet. In my opinion, he’ll do well to earn another contract.
Dozzell starts for QPR in Chair's absence on 09:12 - Dec 12 with 2179 views | patrickswell | Watched a little bit of this match and have kept an eye on QPR's progress over recent weeks since the Mick Beale situation started. Their form started to teeter even after Beale turned down Wolves and it was a tough game for them to restart their season with. They're in a bad place right now as they appear to be both furious at the world and feeling sorry for themselves. Their season has been totally derailed. [Post edited 12 Dec 2022 9:15]

It doesn't increase capacity as each standing place is allocated the same as a seat. The only difference is no seat, and a bar in place.

Jason was never the quickest. But he had a much bigger frame to put himself about, he could shield the ball well because of that . As you say he is easily brushed aside and is too lightweight. If he had his dads build it would have helped a lot with his style of play.

No, I didn’t say that QPR signed him because his name was Dozzell. But I suspect his name has carried him some way in the game because of who is dad is. There’s that expectancy that he must be very good because of his parentage. But as we can see that’s not always the case.

I think it's fair to say his family connections will likely have got him looked at at an early age, and development opportunities for a period of time that might not have been allowed to others, but that would only stretch so far and quite quickly you need to demonstrate you're there on merit. Plenty of ex Town players have had their children knocked back by our academy.

Given that back in Jason Dozzell's day, the majority of footballers in the Football League were from the British Isles, I'd say that possibly Andre may be as good as his dad, but that the level required to play in the top 2 divisions in England is now way higher than it was 30 years ago.
