Quite remarkable that if we win our next three games… 21:18 - Jan 9 with 2548 viewsunstableblue

We’ll be at worst 1 point behind Plymouth or best 2 points clear!

(We have Oxford (a) and Morecombe (h); they have Cheltenham (h))

Or if things go pear shaped they could be between 10 and 13 points in front of us!

Let’s do this!!

You got me!

Put it another way do you think we can claw back 10 points over the rest of this season? Against this Plymouth side. Having lost to them. I don’t think so.

Put it another way we mess up in the next three games, and Oxford away was pivotal to last season, then we’re fighting it out with a very in form Sheff Weds.

Remarkable

And that game in hand is Morecombe, who’ve lost 7 away, and we’ve just brought in two quality attackers to increase our goal threat…. What could possibly go wrong!??

Saturday first… let’s get into Plymouth early. A win would boost us and be a blow for them… a win for them and their confidence and momentum… I think they’ll break away further

If we don’t beat Plymouth Saturday, imo, that’s top spot gone. (Might be a little premature, but I just don’t see them slipping up enough for us to catch them)

It does feel too early to call that... but if they win they'd be 10 clear (7 with our game in hand), and more importantly they'd be just bouncing.. and they'd take real momentum into two very winnable games as they bed in new players. Lose and we've a real chance to then sit on their shoulder.. pressure on them.

With their captain out, Whittaker gone, and new players not fully settled. Combine with a hopeful intimidating atmosphere, and a long trip. Its a great chance to put down a marker.

Seasons turn on games. Oxford away last season - it got away. I think even Charlton away this season... think we could have built a real wave of momentum, and the town fan jitters would have been dampened - then we drop another two points at home to Cheltenham.

What is difference now though is Harness, Chaplin and Ladapo know that an off day isn't going to be accepted now... people of real quality to come in. Those 3 have been great, but all have given points away with lacklustre displays and finishing.

Yes, but we could still finish mid table if everyone gets injured and we lose every game between now and the end of the season.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Is Morecambe a game in hand? Plymouth seem to be playing, away to Accrington, that night.

I can't see when we make up the game in hand.

It’s because we played fa cup this weekend, and they played in the league. Will have 2 at some point with the Burnley game

Although our postponed game (Morecambe) is going to be played on 24 January, Plymouth are also playing that night (at home to Cheltenham).

We aren't scheduled to play a game without Plymouth also playing until 25th March (away at Barnsley).

Think there's a good chance even if we win on Saturday that the gap to Plymouth is going to be hanging around for a good while yet. They follow it up with a winnable home game with Cheltenham and an away game with Accrington in the bottom 4. Even if losing to us and losing Whittaker does them a fair amount of harm, I'd still expect them to be winning those.

Unless they totally keel over then we'd really need to win our next 5 to realistically expect to return to the top of the league any time soon.
