Do forgive my cynicism, but I'm not convinced that a few GK keg offerings (clearly not cask, based on the pump handles) necessarily constitute an 'ale bar'.

Very true - GK out Adnams all the way. As you say they’re definitely not ale pumps.

theyre not traditional beer engines, because in a setup like we have at any football club that the bar is only open for a few hours once every 1 and bit weeks or so , theyd be a really bad idea and alot of work to maintain beer quality.

when its much simpler for the bar staff at the club just to handle direct from cask via gravity dispense. so yes those wooden barrels are a fake frontage, but so are the ones in the Lord Nelson for that matter,

nodoubt Greene King are giving us some of these new pins to try as well https://protzonbeer.co.uk/news/2023/01/11/greene-king-pins-its-faith-on-cask-ale

because smaller volumes means you stand more chance of selling a whole pin at one match and can give the appearance of choice with a range.

and Adnams were drink rights pourers at the club for a while, theyre not that really into football much

I remember the days when Greene King was in proper wooden barrels in the cellar of Old Uncle Factual's pub.

The barrels are obviously fake - it’s the taps themselves that have been pointed out. They do look like they’re from a keg set up, so not gravity fed. There could just be a pipe linked to a cask.
Think they’re likely to be keg - as cask needs to be sold within 3 days and can’t be moved (unless it’s dropped bright when it comes in.) Not sure it should be called an ale bar if it’s kegs.
Used to sell a lot of beer straight from the barrel , just spile and then next day a tap straight in, like in an ale festival - probably more traditional than a hand pull. Just don’t think they’re doing that there.

For our first visit to the Amex they had Adnams on draft in the away end, A nice gesture by Brighton. Unfortunately we played absolute crap.

I can't see it saying Abbot Reserve on any of them, but that would be the best we could hope for from GK offerings. Will have to see what they've got after the game on Saturday.

They normally have those anyway I think... they usually have one or two others in the 'cask ale' bar.
