apparently he never said anything about match being a draw after 75 minutes, so presumably both Robinson and McKenna misheard him yeah? Sure.

Luckily the refs microphones are recorded, so we can all hear exactly what was said, but let me guess, the recording will mysteriously vanish, or wasn't working at the time, right?

This is a joke, the EFL are basically calling McK and Robinson liars, if they're happy with that, great, but I doubt they are and I'm absolutely f****ing fuming about it and it's not even me they're calling a liar!!

people will say it was the same for both teams with regards the fog....and this is the issue I have because essentially the fog levelled the playing field when we are a far superior team.

I’m more annoyed we missed five very good chances. The ref thing is a lot of fuss over nothing.

Do we know what the exact words were that each party asserts was used?

The ref may have said something like "it's 75 minutes gone, so the result would stand if we abandon now". Which is a statement of what is highly likely to have happened if they had abandoned at 75 minutes gone. It's true it's not a rule, but unless the ref actually mentioned a rule, I don't think we need get our knickers too much in a twist.

The FA has not made any finding that anyone has lied.

The bottom line in any event is that McKenna did not insist that the game be abandoned. IF he felt that the rules were being stated wrongly, he could have told the referee what the actual rule was, but he didn't do that.

It's a shame we lost, but we lost in bad weather conditions which made the game a bit more of a lottery, just as Leicester did when we beat them 3-0 in the snow.

As I understand it, the referee told McKenna and Robinson that if the game were to be abandoned, then 1-1 would stand as the result. At which, McKenna (understandably) elected to play on. Had the referee not misrepresented the rules, then it appears to be accepted that the game would have been abandoned.

That is the bottom line. In those circumstances, to criticise McKenna for not putting the (supposed) expert right is, I'm sorry, completely absurd.

I still don't know why we took the risk.

Imo it wasn't a game we were in control of and despite having a few chances. It was scrappy game and a draw in those conditions would have been an OK outcome.

From what I heard the ref has quite the entourage and asked to just speak to the two managers alone so they would be far madden crowd

I thought we were in control at the time and creating some decent chances. Hindsight is a funny thing, but at the time I would of been disappointed if we agreed on a draw.

First time I can recall when KMc's inexperience has shown. MMc would have told Madden he was talking out his A*hole.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I see where you're coming from, although at the time and having had (and missed) the best of the chances, I think it was reasonable to believe that we might get at least one more. Had we been two or three points above Sheffield Wednesday, McKenna might have been happier with a draw.

Doesn't change, of course, the fact that the referee got it completely wrong, or even more frustratingly (in my opinion) that neither he nor his representative body have the balls to admit he made a mistake. Fwiw, I don't think the game should be replayed, but a little honesty might make the cock-up a little more palatable.

What’s maddening is that the ref c0cked up and now the EFL are covering for his incompetence.

Nothing to do with dropped points it’s just blatantly corrupt, which boils my pi$$….

I was at the game and my mates and I all thought the game should be abandoned by the 60th minute, if not sooner, because we weren't convinced we would get anything out of the game, given the way we were playing.

Sorry CityBlue, I understand what you are saying, but I disagree. Same pitch, same weather, same ball. Adapt and prove you are the better team. It’s what the best teams do. Anything less is for me excuses for our own inability and weakness/softness. We lost the game fair and square.

It’s just how I see it.

The appalling ref? That’s a separate issue. Of course they’ll cover there backs, but I hope there is some learning from this on all sides. From the footage I’ve seen (which can be deceptive) the game should never have started.
