Bolton's last 6 at home 22:38 - Mar 10 with 1744 viewsNthsuffolkblue

W5 D1 L0 12 for and 1 against.

Going to be a difficult match. Really could do with a win but a draw would actually be a good result normally.

Yep they're strong, but I do fancy us tomorrow, we're strong in the middle, very good down both flanks and their pitch is nice and wide too which will play into our hands..

We should be confident too with the goals we've been scoring.

Worth pointing out that the five they won were against Portsmouth (10th), Port Vale (13th), Cheltenham (17th), MK (22nd) and Forest Green (24th). Not an entirely stellar lineup. Yes they drew with Plymouth, but the latter are quite shaky away from home.

A good marker for us, just like those other away games at Derby and Barnsley. On paper, very tough matches, but if we still have aspirations for top 2 then we need to pick up points in all 3 of those games. After recent seasons, it is enjoyable we are involved in these ‘BIG’ games that have something riding on them at this point in the campaign.

Who were these 5 wins against?

Just had a look. It’s as follow,

Port Vale
MKD
Cheltenham
Forest Green
Pompey

But They tend to lose their away fixtures.

There must come a moment in a team’s development when they can handle the big occasions and deliver results in the big games. Usually the season isn’t defined by single games but as the games run out they become more important on a remaining PPG basis. In this season I wouldn’t go as far as to say what happens in the next weeks will define the outcome of the playoffs but taking points from those around us would be good for the club, team and fans. It would also give us the slimiest a chance at autos.

We're theoretically good enough to win them all, and crucially I think we're now mentally strong enough to turn, on the day, that theoretical good enough into a practical good enough, and to actually win them all.

Our last 6 away games have resulted in one defeat and one victory. We have scored 6 goals and conceded 6. The stats suggest it will be a tight game, but we should be more confident than we would have been a month ago about getting a result here.

Yes, and they have a very good home record over the whole season too. They have a better record at home than we do at home, or away, or combined. The bookies have us as clear favourites, which I can't really fathom, because our away form, particularly of late, has been a little average (we win fewer than half away games, and this is one of the very hardest away games).

But then, our tails are up, our January signings are clicking into place, and we can surely beat anyone on our day. Full confidence in McKenna's machine still - I would personally take a draw right now, but that's cos I'm a wuss, and not a professional athlete! Let's see what the boys can manage.

Bolton's 'wide pitch' is 10 yards narrower than Portman Road and 2 yards shorter?

For both teams, we are the first decent side, each team has played for a while so a hint of complacency could creep in

I'm led to believe they're quite physical, we definitely can't afford a 40 minutes like we had against Wednesday

That's surprising, the Reebok always seemed like a nice wide pitch to me, have they narrowed it? Maybe it's that the stands are away from the pitch that gives that impression..

I'm still confident bb :)

It would be great to put in a performance today, I'd take a draw right now

I believe they're quite physical and athletic which can be our kryptonite

A draw is no good at this stage of the season. Would rather we lost today whilst chucking everything at a W then settling for a draw.
