Speculation on final table into 13:32 - Mar 30 with 3295 viewsTalkingBlues

the season end, whilst interesting, is pointless. Every game is unique and % probabilities will swing wildly from game to game now, the one thing we can be certain of, is that there will be unforeseen twists and turns along the way. From our perspective, all we can do, is to continue doing what we’ve been doing, set up the best possible team, play the game how we want to and keep creating chances to score, other teams results are beyond control. If we continue to hit our usual performance levels, results will follow and we will be right in the mix for autos I’m sure, something that looked unobtainable not all that long ago.

Lol, probably not, I don’t think it’s likely to change any future outcomes. They’re all saying the same things on every forum I’d imagine, it’s sh1t the pants time all around.

Plenty of owls fans calling for Moore to be sacked. Which is quite incredible really.

Depends how much time and effort is spent on it I would think, has to be a line somewhere between “interesting” and “obsessive”.

They are in full meltdown and I get it, if we’d been in their position a few weeks ago vs the table now, I think my head might have exploded.

Agreed. Little bit of speculation is fun innit, adds to the experience. I've always thought following football teams is a journey rather than a destination. I'm enjoying being at the business end of a season and looking out for other results, being pumped for our games, having so much riding on them etc. Speculating on what might or might not happen, team selections, rivals and the like is all a part of it.

There's always been a feeling amongst their fans he is holding them back.

The nay-sayers had to shrink into the background while they were on their good run, but now they're back on it.... they seem to think they are where they are despite him, not because of them.

I seem to remember it was this season or bust for them to get back up, so if they miss out, it could be an interesting summer for them.

We haven't been part of something like this for ages. The uncertainty, wild speculation is the fun bit.

I beg to differ TB

During the winter months it was painful how we had let a lead go at the top and we allowed the likes of Barnsley. Bilton and Derby to catch us. However the recent run which let's be fair didn't seem to be coming, it's turn it around to such an extent we no longer have to feel that we may finish in the playoffs but we might still go up automatically.

People haven't liked it. But football for me is sharing views. You hate some. You agree with some. But that is football. It always has been.

So with your OP.. how the season may finish is exactly that.. discussing football. You don't need to agree with it but it's not doing any harm.

I get it, we’ve been part of the promise of something like this for what seems like an eternity, but it’s still a tough ask this season, even now. I see everybody filling up with that hope of years passed, but that’s what always kills us, the hope, we’d be better off focussing on ourselves and just seeing what happens, otherwise every game is a massive rollercoaster of emotions and needlessly so, we can’t effect a different outcome, que sera, sera. Certainly the team just needs to focus on the next fixture and forget the table, remove emotions and do what they do.

Well we hadn't won back to back games since October. So a run of 6 games and 6 wins didn't seem that likely. Of course however its been very very welcome.

The gist really, was meant to be that the thousands of new computations on the final table after every game, are not really helpful. It’s probably best for most peoples mental welfare to just try and enjoy the last few games of the season, rather than tying themselves up in knots about top 2. Whatever will be, will be, the journey has been better than most recent seasons.

*EDIT - this is most likely massively hypocritical, because I’ve been one of the worst over the last few games for looking at other teams games etc. then I realised that it was quite unhealthy to pile on even more angst about other teams bloody results, lol.

Of course it's pointless but that is what keeps us hooked. No one expected FGR to beat Wednesday. By 5pm Saturday we'll have more pieces of the jigsaw.

I don't think the discussion and speculation is pointless but I do agree the various tables are. And as for the 'super computer' that gets far too much attention.

Truly impaired.

As others have commented, that's a simplistic and not especially empirical analysis, and a purely 'results driven narrative'. Saying "to be fair..." doesn't validate it.

And of course, was demonstrably incorrect.

Agree with your comments elsewhere that it's a forum for views though :)

Yep, that’s what I was aiming at really, the multitude of computations and %’s are detracting from people’s enjoyment of the games IMO (and are pointless as every game is unique, I guarantee not a single computer predicted an FGR win) just try and enjoy the ride.
