Barnsley now a massive six pointer. 09:28 - Apr 16 with 3556 viewsCheltenham_Blue

Beat them and we pull out 3 more points on both Wednesday and Barnsley.

I think if we take four points out of Vale and Peterborough, Exeter at home might end up being be a bit of a party.

By the time we play Barnsley I would say Barnsley will need to win that game to stay in contention and anything else is them gone from any top 2 options, ie no 2nd chance. Throw in the pressure that places on them and I can see our counterattack approach causing them loads of problems.

I think Tuesday is going to be pivotal to all 4 teams
I agree Barnsley will need to win, they've lost 4 games and conceded 19 goals at home this season,if they want/ need to go fallout attack on us you'd expect us to nick at least a goal then do we look like conceding 2 goals?

They're a very stubborn side, if they recruited well in the summer, they could be a playoff contender in my opinion

They have some proper defenders in that team

I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility that we’re going to Oakwell with the knowledge that a win would effectively promote us, barring a GD catastrophe. If we match Barnsley between now and then beating them would mathematically rule the Tykes out of catching us, and would only then come down to us being at least 3 points above SW going in to that game, what with Barnsley being our GIH over them and us having the far superior GD.

Can we get 2 points more than Sheffield Wednesday over the next 2 games and at least match Barnsley? It’s certainly possible.

Imagine that!

I'm sure older Town fans, will have long memories of us fudging automatic promotion campaigns again and again so I think we're all very wary of getting overexcited

This current side is very very good though, I feel like they have momentum and they are playing some superb football

They're experienced and cruising at top gear now, it's going to take a good side or at least a lucky one, top stop them!

Been my prediction the last 4weeks or so,
By the end of the Exeter game we would be promoted,

“now”

All games from mid Feb have been v important because this is where the season is won and lost. If we take one game at a time it’s no more important than the last.

I for one hope we can beat PV.

Still in a worried mess prior to each game, but I could see this happening

Just need to keep winning our games. Any team that slips up can quickly find the position change rapidly right now. I am sure all four teams will slip up at some point over the last few games. On current form Wednesday look most likely to and can probably least afford to. We seem least likely to lose and a point from each of our away games would probably be enough if we win our home ones. The only way Wednesday beat us then is winning all 4 of theirs and Barnsley would only be able to match our points so our goal difference wins it.

This means that win our next two and a win against Barnsley seals it for us. They will be under a lot of pressure to win a game that for us will effectively be a "mustn't lose".

Meh. I'll see your "mates 2 weeks ago" and raise you "on this board 2 months ago with no wavering when most thought we'd blown it".

Yes and I always have done.

We've got a really deep squad and over the next 10 weeks is when that comes into play.

Yes we drew a bunch of "ought to win" games but we kept picking up points and what's more it didn't dent our goal difference.

Today was a great result. COYB

I also posted on 2nd fed that I thought we’d win the division and that we were stronger than sheff Weds and Plymouth.

Some of us saw the bigger picture and what is going on at our club.

I think our previous promotions have been as champs or as playoff winners by N2_Blue 2 Feb 2023 13:57
If you want to bookmark this, I’m still saying we’ll win the division. We’ll finish stronger than Weds, Plymouth and the rest. The bed wetting after a wobble (a pretty minor one at that) is typical of town fans that are starved of success. But this is very different, Keep the faith, it’s happening.

We know what Norwood is like. Some very sensible comments from Tyke fans on there. One especially compares Chaplin who I am sure they are right would show far more class were he to score the winner at Oakwell.

The main (unsaid) thing I take from that thread is how much he has improved as a player in McKenna's team.
