Serious Question regarding Sims 03:28 - Jul 7 with 2153 views | ArchiRob | Just surprised the way Everton dealt with it swap for several players or go to Blackburn go to Swansea or Ipswich. What makes a player with only 1 year left on his contract comply with the club and go anywhere they want to send him Surely he can express his preference or refuse to comply Seems strange to me I would be pissed if anybody showed such contept for me and tried so hard to be rid of me

And why the heck would he want to come to Town over Coventry? They were one game away from the Premier League last season.

If he doesn't want to go there it would be down to the remaining clubs to agree a deal. He still has the power to determine his own career and what's right for his family etc

Because Ipswich amongst a few others are still regarded as a big club with a decent history. Who have the only world cup winning manager. Has almost 27 thousand crowds on average and sold fifty thousand shirts. Ambitious owners and a highly regarded manager maybe that's why ? .

Ipswich history really doesn't mean much to younger players who aren't Ipswich fans, it was years ago remember. Coventry also have a highly regarded Manager and I would argue ambitious owners, owners who had the club knocking on the door of the prem last season.

They're going to lose Gyokeres though who was their stand out player by some margin

No he wasn't. Hamer was every bit as good as he was and just as important. I'm not sure why it's such a massive surprise that he may go to Coventry over us and they'd be seen to be a huge step down? We're maybe at the same level, maybe below. They're an established championship side who were knocking on the door of the Prem last season. We've just spent 4 years in L1!

He may have wanted to be anywhere but Everton, given their repeated relegation battles.

Serious Question regarding Sims on 09:38 - Jul 7 with 1303 views | BlueBlood90 | I think some people really have their ITFC blinkers on. Yes, we're a club on the rise and there's optimism we can push on to the next level eventually but at the moment to many outsiders we're probably just seen as a newly promoted side from L1. Coventry were a penalty shootout away from being in the Premier League. Why would we be considered such a better alternative club to sign for over them?

Delusional fans who think because we finished 2nd in League 1 last season we're more attractive than Coventry whose last game was a championship playoff final at Wembley. Don't get me wrong I think we're an attractive proposition to many players, but we should stay in our lane a bit and not discredit other clubs.

This. Alf Ramsey leaving Ipswich to win the World Cup with England the best part of 60 years ago will likely mean the square root of feck all to Ellis Simms.

He'll get regular football at Coventry as he's their marque signing to replace Gyokeres. And Coventry have proven they can do very well, rather than just having the potential to maybe do well. It's really not a surprising choice.

And it's half the distance away from home that Ipswich is. Lots of factors, but in this case I don't suppose there was much of a decision to make given Everton probably just accepted the highest bid, and that was theirs. Cov have blown us and Sunderland, and perhaps Swansea and others out of the water. Good luck to them.
