27 pence and a king size mars bar

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Is it a real King Size? Or just the size they used to be anyway and now described as King size?

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Wonder what wages he's on at United?

Would seem to be way out of our possible ability to finance. Unless the 'option to buy' kicks in with promotion ;)

“Would seem to be way out of our possible ability to finance. ”

Have you got those actual figures to hand?

I'd be surprised if we can afford Prem wages with FFP restrictions atm.

I assume we aren't paying the full whack during a loan.

But lots of assumptions here, granted

I think he’s on £60k, would be surprised if we’re even paying 1/3 of that. He won’t come cheap though.

Based on what?

I know it's the PL but that still seems rather a lot for someone who hasn't broken through.

It should be a lot, but it’s ludicrous what young players are on at the top club. He’s signed a new deal since he made his debut, so that will have bumped it up. Just going on what’s been speculated in the media / online where it ranges from about £50k - £65k depending on which source.

Signed a 4-year deal in Summer 2020, just after the 2019-20 when he'd made 36 first team appearances.

Mirror reported it as £40k "rising to £60k" https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/brandon-williams-sees-wages-rocket-

If the "rising" depended on performance indicators he likely won't have met them, but they might also have been automatic.

That's all speculation though, nothing firm in there.

Perhaps he is on that which would mean he was highly rated, although as you say, it's doubtful the raise kicked in given his trajectory the last few years.

According to a Man Utd forum (RedCafe) he’s on 65k pw.

In general, I'd say it's pretty likely that any player signing a first contract after breaking into the Manchester United first team is earning far more than we could pay them.

In the intervening period he's not done anything to merit that wage, so you imagine his next contract would be much more within our price range.

I'm also seeing figures of £65K for his current wages.

So the only way I can see him signing permanently when his contract is up is if Town are up in the prem and able to get anywhere close to that. Also depends what other interest is out there of course.

Unless he's absolutely central to winning us promotion this season his next contract is almost certain to be less than 1/3 of that.
