Had that in the Gloucestershire floods of 2007. Supposed to be going to my brother's stag do, but trapped in the village by flood water. Finally managed to get there about midnight, after it eased just enough along one road to get out.

Literally no roads out? That's rough. Don't get me wrong it's pretty wet where I am but I don't think it's anything like that bad.

Did better than the lot coming from Cambridge, who were stuck on the motorway overnight. Fortunately it was over a weekend, thus we managed to do a good pub crawl the following day.

The road past our house is now a fast flowing river with small trees in it....about another inch higher and it will be in the front door.

in ip12 and it's the same here. the volume flowing through the road is frightening - and it must be going somewhere.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Haven't made it right into the village yet but it isn't going to be good.

lots of the farm land round here is now owned by a firm that grows salad crops intensively. they over work the land, compact it, and because it's sandy the top cakes over. so in heavy rain it absorbs no water and it all goes straight to the roads. the roads then become very fast flowing rivers - though never seen them like this before.

Just had a work call with someone in Tunstall having the same problem as you and Lowhouse. Apparently getting very close to flooding their house, and again all due to field run off.

tunstall wouldn't be good at the moment. trouble is even when the rain slows there's still a huge volume yet to come off the fields.

The flooding I get is also field run-off - it's just sheep pasture tho - as the owner lives miles away, doesn't do the ditching, and the tenant farmer doesn't bother.

Good stuff. With you being offline for a bit I was wondering if you’d been bailing the house out instead. Glad to hear you haven’t!

Good to hear Carol.
Mrs SSB’s cousin not so lucky and has a foot or more through the house.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
