Wonderful player.

Plays on the edge. Sometimes needs to reign it in 10% and concentrate on position rather than 'Must win ball at all costs'.

Bristol City pressed him quickly tonight, more so than any other of the defenders as they obviously thought they could get something from him. For the most part, he did pretty well.

Until the 80th minute he was immense. Once his legs went he struggled alot. Didn't he'll he had to mark a sub either. But he's a talent definitely.

Pretty much between 20 mins and 60 it was normal town.

a niche perspective

He’s frustrating as hell at times and can be a defensive liability - a couple of times his positioning and decision making almost cost us today. Really good player but just doesn’t seem to have an off switch, everything is always 100mph.

Days like today I thought he might use Donacien off the bench as an option to see it out like the Leigh for Davis sub we used to do (Clarke is effectively the same player defensively so doesn’t really give us that option).

So a bit like a slightly better Harry Clark! Feel a bit sorry for the latter because he came in last season and became a cult hero who many of us thought would be at the vanguard of this seasons charge. Now he’s just a ressie!

I'm glad somebody's said this. Positionally, he was all over the place tonight. He was still a 7 out of 10, i think, but let's not go overboard because he has played at a high level.

Like a certain Roy Keane if he never played on the edge not the same player carry on Brandon.

Yeah, I thought he was off a little bit tonight, certainly compared to his last few games.

Decent enough, but a few moments where you really wanted to see more composure.

Hmm. I was watching him press so much and wondering if we’d be seeing Clarke in a game or two.

Not at his best tonight.

He's got a touch of Stuart Pearce about him..."Psycho".
Rather he was playing for us, than against us... With him on the right, it ever so slightly lessens the blow of Burns injury, imo...

The Roy Keane that intentionally ended another player’s career?

Very mixed bag tonight from him I thought. Some superb bits of defending but also some fairly ropey bits of play in possession, including a stupid way to concede a corner which put us under quite a bit of unnecessary pressure towards the end. Got caught in the wrong position quite a bit as well.

Didn't link up as well with Jackson as he has been doing with Burns which is understandable, especially as Jackson, for all his good energy and work rate, is a bit hare-brained on the ball in the final third.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Let's not forget, that regarding tonight's game, we had KJ and then Hutchinson playing in front of him. Both are probably not as well drilled as Burns is , in that position..

Yeah it’s tough - the Bristol City left hand side were good all night too. I just think both him and Clarke are so aggressive in their positioning (because they want to jump and make first contact if it’s played to feet) that it sometimes leaves us exposed to a clipped ball over the top. I think you can get away with it a bit more in League One but it’s just a bit of a problem for us with our kind of lop-sided back four because if you’re in behind a full back on that side we are open to an overload in the middle.

It’s nitpicking though obviously as he’s a very good player and we’ve just kept another clean sheet in a very tough away game.

Their press was very good tonight. We got in a muddle once or twice at the back. They kept it up for the 90, too. Which is commendable. I thought they might labor a bit 2nd half..
Yeah, both Williams and Clarke have that committed style. If you don't get it spot on, then good players will draw you on and exploit the space or draw a foul.. You're not nit picking, its just an observation. I just thought their high press caused us a few problems and a bit of panic at times.
