Leif Davis - England call up? 11:19 - Nov 10 with 3354 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | I saw one of the football accounts on Twitter suggest that given Davis's form in the Championship, and with England not exactly being strong in his position that Davis may be worth a call up even just to include in the squad. I know there is not much chance of that actually happening, but it's nice to have an Ipswich player even mentioned in the context of England again. Who was the last Town player to win an England cap, Richard Wright? As for being named in the squad Darren Bent? David Stockdale?
Leif Davis - England call up? on 15:17 - Nov 10 with 3072 views | Pencilpete | He's got no chance atm - Southgate has his favorites and he's sticking by them no matter what. We've already qualified and have 2 games against Malta and North Macedonia which for any normal manager would be an ideal time to have a look at some fringe players or try one or two new ones but he's picked his usual squad with Ramsdale, Maguire and Phillips who can't get in their club sides and Henderson who has semi retired out to Saudi Arabia. At the end of the season we'll be moaning that the team is fatigued going into a major tournament on the back of a gruelling season but here is an opportunity to give our regular squad a week on the beach to recharge the batteries and name a young squad to give some vital experience to in 2 matches that are irrelevant to us in terms of winning and he doesn't do it, he doesnt even name one or two to have a look at Absolutely absurd imo

He has limited time with his players ahead of a tournament, and winning the games gets us a guaranteed pot 1 position for the Euros draw.

Southgate is a one trick pony and England have gone back to their old ways of slow, slow, slow, slow. I personally detest this interupting of League games as England will I doubt ever win the World Cup again. They are a bit like Town under Marcus Evans, so much promise, so much expectation, followed by failure. They'd be better off having the England womens manager in charge than Southgate.

Qualification champions! Joking aside next summer is going to define Southgates legacy. I’ve never said this coming into a tournament ever, even when I get excited about a month before, but I genuinely fancy us to win it. [Post edited 10 Nov 2023 17:27]

Nice one! I am realistic in that I don't think he will be called up but its nice to even have some speculation about it. If we were promoted and could hang on to Davis and Wolfenden, assuming they stepped up they could potentially get looked at for England. Humprheys could be an England player in time, again, it would be nice to see us hang onto them long enough for it to happen.
Leif Davis - England call up? on 21:42 - Nov 10 with 2323 views | Jimmy86 | Don't get me wrong, I love Leif Davis, he's your typical modern day full back, IE Great going forward, but the one thing you could say is that he is lacking defensively at times... If he gets that squared away then he'd be a top player

England under Southgate is like Ipswich under Evans? What the actual f£&k? Ipswich under Evans were full of promise? I must have missed that. You’ve literally just compared arguably the worst ever period in Ipswich’s history against arguably the consistently best period in England’s history.

“Southgate has his favourites” Yes, that’ll be why Ivan Toney, Eberechi Eze, Levi Colwill and Eddie Nketiah have all received caps this year. Which follows the 5 players that received their first caps in 2022. And the 8 in 2021. And the 11 in 2020. I could go on but think I’ve made my point

Leif Davis - England call up? on 08:14 - Nov 11 with 2041 views | Herbivore | Last player to win a cap whilst playing for Town would be Wright I imagine. I don't think Davis is far off but hard to see him being called up whilst in the Championship. Championship players being called up happens very, very rarely. I said a while ago that I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the squad a year from now and I stand by that, he'll be in the Prem next year with or without us and I think he'll be progressed into the England set up fairly quickly given our lack of quality specialist left backs. I would imagine he's one that England will be aware of but he's a little way off a call up just yet.

Leif Davis - England call up? on 12:48 - Nov 11 with 1845 views | PioneerBlue | I don’t know that Southgate is willing to look below prem. he stated reasons a while back although things can change of course for one off cases. Given the lack of depth in this position England really should be inviting to training camps where U21s National Elite is not an option.
