Anyway, in Marks and Spencer earlier on 19:45 - Dec 23 with 1881 views | _clive_baker_ | We ordered a hamper from the butcher which included a Turkey crown (2.5kg), bacon, sausages, stuffing, pigs in blankets & some condiment for £70. It’s not a lot of Turkey really as we didn’t want loads left over given we rarely eat meat, and I’m not sure I really like Turkey tbh. It’s meant to feed 6, so a shade under £12 a head which I guess isn’t too bad, although I’ve got no idea how much meat costs tbh. I laughed when a guy in front of me in the queue was told it’s £200 for his Turkey, he couldn’t believe it. Can only assume his partner had ordered it and he had been sent to collect it. ‘HOW MUCH?’ He said. To be fair it was massive, 14kg. He must be feeding a village.

Jeez - between about 1996-2006 I raised about 15 Black & Bronze turkeys every year to organic standards & sold most to individual buyers for Christmas - average weight was probably about 14Kg, which I sold for about £20 per bird! [Post edited 23 Dec 2023 23:32]

Sprinkled with gold flakes I’d hope at that price. If was wrapped in bacon and came with a small pot of gravy. But still, insanely expensive

You should do it again next year, £14 / kg seems to be the going rate at my local butchers.
