In Wales, they brought in a loophole - some would say specifically for him as he was ripping it up at a young age - that the rule wouldn't apply if you played outside Wales before your first cap. After you had your first cap, you could see out your contract, but any subsequent contract had to be with a Welsh club.
Gloucester have LRZ a six year contract the day before he was set to make his Wales debut. | | | |

Christian Wade tried the same route but didn't make it. Don't think any British player has made a 53 man game day roster without coming through either the College system or NFL Europe. Don't think he'll do it either, Wade was a serious athlete, Zammit has pace but he's not the quickest. Good luck to him though. |  | | |

With the exception that once you reached 60 caps, you no longer needed to play in Wales to be eligible for Wales. And with Wales playing 11-16 times a year, a mostly fit LRZ could have achieved this milestone within his Gloucester contract. It's since reduced to 25 caps, so he'd be eligible for Wales on returning to Gloucester, should the NFL not work out. | | | |
