Wouldn't be surprised if Harry Kane did this after the next world cup.

Truly impaired.

That's a massive loss to Welsh rugby.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Sure is. Think it might be a tough 6 nations for them, real shame from their perspective to lose R-Z.

His chances of making it are so slim.

He'll be back in a couple of years and playing rugby again. I dare say his bank balance will be better for it and it does seem to be a genuine ambition of his to give it a crack, so good on him I guess.

International Pathway Players have a league mandaited salary of $10,500 per week.... if he makes it on to the active roster, the league min. salary is $750k per year - or is for this current season anyway.

I'm a bit out of touch with Rugby these days but did I see he's Welsh and plays for Gloucester ?
I was always under the impression that you were only picked for the Interantional team if you played in your National league ?

In Wales, they brought in a loophole - some would say specifically for him as he was ripping it up at a young age - that the rule wouldn't apply if you played outside Wales before your first cap. After you had your first cap, you could see out your contract, but any subsequent contract had to be with a Welsh club.

Gloucester have LRZ a six year contract the day before he was set to make his Wales debut.

Which will dwarf his current salary, and if he doesn't make it he can still comeback to Rugby at a young age.

Don't blame him, although the task is very hard.

Blow for the Lions as well.

What position would he play? Maybe a wide receiver/tight end. Seems at 'only' 6' 3" he would be on the small side for TE.

Christian Wade tried the same route but didn't make it. Don't think any British player has made a 53 man game day roster without coming through either the College system or NFL Europe. Don't think he'll do it either, Wade was a serious athlete, Zammit has pace but he's not the quickest. Good luck to him though.

With pace, could be a running back?

Kicker?

He’s been listed as a RB and WR.

Interestingly, Harry Mallinder is also making the move, and he’s listed as a kicker.

With the exception that once you reached 60 caps, you no longer needed to play in Wales to be eligible for Wales. And with Wales playing 11-16 times a year, a mostly fit LRZ could have achieved this milestone within his Gloucester contract. It's since reduced to 25 caps, so he'd be eligible for Wales on returning to Gloucester, should the NFL not work out.
