Hladky offered 2 Yr Burnley deal on 13:41 - Jul 15 with 2091 views | Zx1988 | That surprises me a little, if true. I've nothing against Hladky, but I would have thought that a club of Burnley's position and means would have gone for a slightly higher profile/calibre option.

Well, they're in the Championship - and Hladky was ever present in the team that finished 2nd in The Championship last season. Isn't that a decent enough calibre if they were to go for him?

Hladky offered 2 Yr Burnley deal on 13:44 - Jul 15 with 1968 views | Vic | Interesting that the two clubs could in effect be swapping keepers. Hope we hear some more about their guy soon - will be good to get back to ITFC focused chat rather than England. On which - watching England made me realise just how good our play was last season. Hope we can keep it up this time round.

That's a fair observation. I was just thinking that, assuming they have ambitions to make an immediate return to the PL, they might look to sign a GK who can make that transition with them at the end of the season, if all goes to plan.

Even we have no idea if he might have transitioned to the Premier League. He may have done, however much we might suspect he's probably reached his ceiling. Many thought he would've been ok in League One, but hadn't given him much thought of transitioning to Championship until Walton's pre-season injury.

Just had a look and is reported in Czech media.

Unless we offered Hladky Championship terms and he took irreconcilable umbrage. Remember Joe speculating on Blue Monday that our contract offer this summer may not have moved from the terms offered last winter. It wouldn't shock me if the Burnley offer is financially similar or better even, given he's a free agent and they're a parachute club. Edit: although if we had, better financial terms would surely have accompanied such a guarantee. My guess would be that Hladky's side stalled on the contract offer with the expectation it would improve if promoted, but we didn't budge our side (or very little) because we were targeting a new #1 anyway, and maybe an element of power play dynamics given the above.
