Doesn't matter who they sign, with Martin in charge they'll be finishing bottom.

Good to see but obviously means next to nothing. Think Oxford had lost to Mansfield and Exeter before this.

The only problem I have with them signing certain players is that I would rather they signed for us.

So you’re saying Southampton are worse than Mansfield?

Flynn Downes.

I get that - but we tried on Downes, and obviously are going to be working in similar markets generally.

Yet I think we’ve beaten them to signings too (Delap?), and made signings they could never have done (Omari), so it feels much more like swings and roundabouts than people make out. The real world isn’t like Football Manager.

Depends on Leciester's points deduction.

Des Buckingham did incredibly well with Oxford last season after a slightly rocky start.

Building an exciting team too.

Apparently they passed on Delap and seemingly went for Brereton instead for at least half the price.

They are looking for a GK and if they get Ramsdale on loan then you add him as another good signing

Martin will still find a way to finish below them.

Downes and Diaz?

Sorry only getting back to this thread now. Personally I'd have loved Downes back.

Looking at EPL stats I make it he started 6 games and came on as a sub for 3 more. Yes he had a lot of quality players to break through into the starting XI.

Equally I always thought Saints would be favourites to sign him just as we were for Omari.

Equally Diaz has had 28 appearances over the past 2 seasons.

All I am trying to say, it's a bit early to claim Saints transfers are so much better when the window hasn't closed.

P.S. Transfer market has Flynn valued at 9m!

I think there is some natural dissapointment over the protracted Phil O gene and Szmodics and Greek transfers and therefore perceived inactivity following our initial burst of signings. This is coupled with reported and rumoured key injuries. I am confident we will get the required bodies in but probably not soon enough to fully integrate them before the season starts which is dissapointing following our initial start to the window
